You don't charge 5 Faerie Gauge if your heal spell begins when the target is at max HP, even if you restore HP anyway because they were damaged while casting your heal. I would still precast heal anyway because being a second earlier can mean life/death in many situations. But if you're not pressured you could get greedy and wait for the target to lose some health first.

BTW how do you get movement passively between spells

This was quite an interesting read and watch, thank you. I don't think I could even roll with your HUD setup though! It's next level.

There's two components to this:
1. You can still finish a cast even when it's not complete.
2. The Cast is shorter than the Recast, but you can't Cast again until the Recast is over.

This means you can move without affecting your spell output. Helps with kiting and LOS'ing around walls.

Also whats your take on Healer meta for Feast (4v4)?

Do you think Scholar is too strong of a spot atm? Does it make other healers not as viable? How about your take on broil (too op?) Are there measures other healers can do to deal with Broil other than LOS?

I haven't played the other healers so I can't compare. When I played in the previous season as Scholar my win rate was a lot lower than it is now. It's very nice to not have to work around Repose. But I see more new players and I think I got better so it's hard to say.

Broil is a problem when you're behind. When the fight is even it's a risk for the Scholar to use Broil because healing then falls behind.

When it's a double scholar match up and I'm behind, I try to cast near a wall. Because Broil is a longer cast than healing spells, you can cast the heal and then hide to interrupt Broil, and usually you'll start casting before Broil starts casting. With good positioning Broil doesn't become as big of an issue. Sometimes you'll have to get hit by Broil no matter what such as when you're stunned so you can use Purify to counter that.

I don't think you can counter Broil without LOS when you're behind. But I find it hard to Broil when the enemy healer is constantly moving, which is how I think you counter Broil. Round pillars are very good for countering Broil. Flat walls aren't as good because the Scholar can sit on the edge and limit the LOS region to the other edge only which limits your movement. Taking Muse and the MP Regen trait also helps. I think the skill in playing against Scholar is mitigating Broil rather than hoping it didn't exist.

I think the reason Scholar is strong is more due to the very short Aetherflow cooldown and the 1500 Embrace that is added onto every heal. Silence isn't effective against Scholar and that makes it easy to heal. It's very forgiving to heal on Scholar. I imagine it would be more difficult to heal without so many instant heals. Because Scholars can heal so well, you don't fall behind as often so Broil becomes more pronounced.

Summary: try not to be behind. If you're behind, try to prevent Broil as much as possible and hope you can get the momentum back because the enemy team is carrying medals and so takes more damage - the Scholar has to heal more and so can't Broil as much.

After a lot of matches, it seems to me at least in the low ranks, white mages are pretty far superior to Scholars. This might have a lot to do with the way people play, but WHMs just outheal me by 20-30%, and seem to be much better at staying alive. ASTs are weak, but I dont see them in ranked anyway.

You can't focus on healing numbers on the scoreboard for Scholars. Adlo shields do not count towards the scoreboard total healing done.

Some thoughts after playing lots of games:

I really don't like playing inefficiently. I want to summon Eos before I use Lustrate. Unfortunately I've let so many people die because I got too greedy with this. Just half a second can be so much. Another one is canceling a heal spell to use Lustrate - this one's so difficult!

Ranged love to use dots on me at the beginning (before fighting begins) if I'm in the open. Great for building Faerie Gauge so that you can summon Eos earlier (you have to be in combat and not at full health I think).

Being close to the melee is better than healing from afar. Your heals don't get LOS'ed as often and you get more opportunities to use Aura Blast. It's true that the enemy can switch to you faster and CC you more readily. But I think threatening the other healer with broil (even if you don't cast it, you just heal next to the enemy healer and they get scared), Aura Blast, and better general fight awareness outweighs the risks. This also makes Recuperate more efficient - can go back to healing from far when your Recuperate is on CD.

Recuperate/Muse works really well against Warrior. Don't need Purify against Warrior. I need to test if Recuperate is actually worth it as a default pick. Maybe Purify/Muse is better? I think Purify is mandatory against Paladin and Dark Knight though. Haven't tested Bolt enough, but I still believe Scholar has enough kiting power without it. Concentrate is still garbage. I still think Safeguard is overkill, but I see many healers take it.

I don't think defense kit is worth it on healer. It's really rare to be targeted first.

70% health at the beginning is really dangerous, physick is a huge risk. Definitely need to Lustrate that even if it's really inefficient.

Summoner, Bard, Samurai are the three DPS I find hardest to play against.
