Trouble with questing with friends in new zones

If anyone could give feedback on this it would be greatly appreciated:

My spouse and I like doing quests together, but have encountered issues with being able to stay together due to split server zones.

Does anyone know of a method to stay together with a party member, or at the moment is it luck of the draw to be able to quest together?

I understand the reasoning of split server groups in order to alleviate congestion, but it also is nice to be able to form a party and continue questing together.

So far, I have only seen one instance in which the game asked which zone 1/2/3 to be ported into, but other than that time we have had to quest on our own.

So the answer is that the game doesnt let you choose what zone to be ported in to. It DOES let you choose if you walk/fly across the zone line into a location. So for now, try to cross lines manually(if you get seperated, you can potentially walk out and back in as well) for best results. And of course, at some point in the next few weeks when everything has stabilized the whole-zone instances will go away and therell only be one version of a zone to worry about.

As stated above for you and your friends to play on the same "zone" you need to enter the zone manually, SE to be fair did put something on the main page about this, was a measure to try and calm the servers with the expected rush of players

The instances are fine, it's ok that they added them at the start. But as someone who also played the story with a friend, I really wished we could have chosen instances easier, for example when teleporting in. I can't think of any reason why this shouldn't be possible. It was already an issue with Heavensward and they literally improved nothing of this system in Stormblood.
