Brotherhood. Why is it so weak?

So, forgive me if I'm not seeing something here, but this a 5% physical dmg only AOE buff, that lasts 15 seconds, doesn't effect the user of the skill, and has a CHANCE to give you chakra per weaponskill (not attacks, weapon skill. Very important distinction).

Why is this thing so weak? This is more useless than 3.0 AST AOE balance on release. At least that effected everyone, mages and physical attackers alike.

Even if you're extremely lucky with RNG and you get a chakra every second, that's at most 2 FCs considering it's CD.
And why can't we at least be effected by the damage buff as well? DRG is effected by Battle Litany, NIN can benefit from Trick Attack. What's up with this? It feels so weak and undertuned.

I thought monk did also get the damage buff though? But yeah the chakra returns seem pretty Meh. if my 6am assumption math is probably pretty bad, so anyone feel free to correct me but assuming 4 other physical dps (2 tanks, melee, brd/mch) with 2.5 second recast, that's at most 6 skills (more likely 5 cos timing won't be perfect) per physical class, meaning 20-24 hits for the duration. If the 30% averages our that's 6 or 7 chakras. And then I guess you can hope that the monks own skills will open a chakra, but less likely if you decide to use riddle of fire during that time period. I played monk a lot in heavensward, and maimed it in arr... Not sure if I'll level it up in stormblood just due to choices in gameplay. Namely riddle of earth, riddle of fire and tackle mastery sounds utterly pointless

Oh, I suppose if you surround yourself with other fast hitters like monks and nins or make your fellow teammates stack skill speed material you can get some more mileage out of it? :'D

No, monk got 10 potency nerfs to their gcds, lost two of its 3 highest potency attacks(ToD and fracture) and forbidden chakra lost 70 potency to balance that it'd be used more often(I would say demolish was also nerfed, but its duration change is fine since there's no more ToD). The damage buffs you might be thinking of were just the old traits being rolled into the skills themselves, not actual buffs

They were referencing the Brotherhood damage buff, which Monks do not get. They weren't talking about the potency nerfs or overall damage.

But yeah, Brotherhood sucks. If it was 5% to all damage for everyone, including the Monk, it'd be half as good as Trick Attack. I don't think it's unreasonable for our one utility to be half as good as one skill from our closest competition's kit.

Honestly, Monk in SB feels like it's not working as intended.
They nerfed Monks across the board in exchange for us using Forbidden Chakra more often. But with the way RNG works in this game, you hardly get off more than 2-3 Forbidden Chakras in a boss fight.

The brotherhood+Riddle of Fire feels like it's supposed to be this incredibly strong comband chain of attacks, but again because of RNG you may get off 1 extra FC, maybe 2 if you're lucky. Meanwhile the decrease in speed is makes you feel like a snail, and the amount of increased damage is mitigated by your slower attacks. It really doesn't make any sense.
