Needing a target to use Tenka Goken has to go

who gives a crap if the target i'm using Tenka Goken on died? theres like 5 other things waiting to get hit by it. @___@

Then I have to move for mechanic, then theres an aoe on the ground, then i have to move again. tank is running away too fast for me to catch up, still haven't cast it. I finally get to cast it but am auto faced way the hell out of position and so the ability only hits 2 targets.

Yeah it's happened a bit too often for my liking. I wouldn't mind this change at all.

Welcome to the world of aoe'ing. Every aoe spell/skill has that issue. Can't even begin to count how often my group decided to kill just that mob I was aiming my Flare at, interrupting it, wasting my long cast time.
Being able to execute it even if the target died would be nice, so I believe we need not only ask for adjusting one Sam skill, but aoe skills in general.

Cone-shaped AoEs tend to require a target, whereas 360 degree PBAoEs don't. I wonder if this is due to the fact that the game supports multiple different control schemes, some of which rely more on auto-facing to target than others?

They could offer some UI options around this: e.g. allow AoEs without target - yes/no; allow AoEs to fire at dead target's last location - yes/no. (Suspect that latter may not be easy to realise if the combat engine deletes relevant data as soon as the mob dies.)

well at least flare hits in a 360 degree area. probably has a bigger range too. But it would not be a bad implementation for all
