Ast dps for lvling

So I just started playing my ast and I love it. Healing is a lot of fun but the only issue I have is my dps for leveling. Is all I really have 1 dot, 1 aoe(which for quests you never really use) and the 1 spammable cast? Or am I missing something

Yes, malefic II and combust II (now instant cast) are all we have for single target at level 60. You get earthly star at 62, which is weak DPS wise but a very strong heal. Minor arcana at 66 gives you the chance to turn a useless card into either a heal or a nuke stronger than Malefic III, which can be great while soloing.

Unfortunately they simplified all the healers this way, so you're pretty much applying 1-2 DOTs and then spamming your nuke spell.

Ah thats too bad. Well I will use the msq and dungeons to lvl my ast since it will be less mob killing. Ill just have to save the side quests and stuff that require more mob killing for my monk.

Still dissapointed about this though

You'll eventually get a random maybe attack with your arcana cards, but yeah, when it comes to dealing out damage, astrologians have been simplified mores than the other healers it feels like.

Dont forget to summon your chicken, extra dps there

Omg i totally forgot about that!! Hinestly I dont even know how to summon the dps chicken...never used it before lol

Remember for solo content you can toss a bole to boost your balance or extend the duration with a spear. Not to mention celestial opposition to extend it further. While your dps may not be complicated you do have ways to boost it. Not to mention it get two aoe options. Gyashl Greens can be used to summon the chicken.

AST has never exactly been strong in the DPS department, but now it's pretty bad. Just try to maximize the tools you do have - with cards, your bo, and using ES on CD, even if it is kinda weak, it's still damage.

Probably the only reason I was able to level through the MSQ as a SCH is because I can do it as a SMN. For AST and WHM I literally can only level them in dungeons and very sparsely elsewhere.
