Some mounts are faster?

So I noticed that one day riding my mount that someone passed me with relative ease. So I thought to myself that more than likely different mounts have different speeds. After just a little bit of searching I find that apparently all mounts are the same speed. I found this very interesting as I clearly saw this other player pass me easily. I read some where else that "Flying" mounts are faster than land mounts, but today I was flying on my Ahriman and a land mount passed me. So baiscally I need an actual answer as to why some players mounts are faster than mine?:confused::confused:

You can unlock faster movement speed for mounts by doing the main story quests, and also increase it further by purchasing an item with centurio seals, which is the currency you gain from kill elite hunt monsters in the open world.

It's a new thing added in stormblood and specific to each area. You can view which area has it somewhere in the travel tab, I don't remember exactly where but it's a similar menu to viewing which aether currents you have

/mountspeed

will also show you which zones you get speed boosts in. Each zone's first speed boost unlocks at a different point in the main story.
