If we had been, we'd be on a fixed server and going to the next quest. SE please notice that Japan is not the only country that plays this game.
We need fixes here too.

As to why you "deserved" it... sorry if this sounds harsh, but you chose to play on the most overpopulated server of all servers. There's a certain amount of "problem" expectation that comes with that. Any problem that occurs is going to be 10x worse.
As for one thing that helped alleviate it somewhat, people lined up and didn't spam the NPC on the JP servers. Someone said they tried that on Balmung, but then it went back to chaos after people got impatient.
All the spam from hundreds or even thousands of players all spamming one NPC just makes it worse. -
