Apparently the Japanese servers have zero issues

We have people transferring to complete the MSQ and coming back.

An option for those with limited time / money / and no house.

Don't you get locked out of transferring for awhile after you do it?

Japanese players always takes priority over North America ones dude, just they way of the world with SE they did the same thing with FF11

Yes, you get locked for three days.

EDIT: Actually I might be wrong on that. I thought there was a restriction but I only see the one for newly created characters, and the 90 day lock for New/Preferred World.
