The Dev said that this will be investigated at the highest priority. Though it will take a while since a patch will be needed to fix it.

I get the impression they're actively avoiding taking the game down for maintenance under any circumstances at this point.

No use taking the game down until they have a (tested) fix ready to apply.
I assume we will get a hotfix or two within the next couple of days.

I've done it 1 hour ago, no problem here !

And I did it nearly 2.5 hrs ago, the game crashed me out and I haven't been able to log back into my main character since. Have sent in ticket from an alt, still waiting for response. Others have been waiting 6+ hours simply to be able to log back onto their main. Not happy.
