So far, I like the new UI and don't feel a desire for a simplified version. I would, however, like to see some of the standard UI options for hiding this new element:
- Hide/un-hide via text command or menu
- Hide based on weapon sheathed status

While I get what they're trying to do with the new job gauges UI, I would rather they come with options. Some gauges would still work well staying on the Status Bar, and would let other members of the party see your buffs. Like checking if your fellow AST also has a Balance card or not. Also, I'm not sure if I remember right, but I think Yoshi-P said in a previous live letter that they would keep the old way of tracking buffs via status bar as an option for those who are used to it. Sucks that it did not push thru.
Not sure if it's just me, or if I havent found the perfect place for them yet, but having an additional UI makes me have to look at more places at once. Instead of before where everything was just neatly together on the status bar, just above the target name, which is just above my hotbars.
In short, I hope for either an option to go back to seeing things on the status bar, simplified alternatives, or both!
I like BRD's new UI gauge but it could sure use a few improvements. Bards new mechanics created a few necessary places to concentrate on. You still need to track dot's and straight shot timers, look for procs of new damage abilities (which are purely random proc based) and keep track of song duration as well as repertoire stacks.
BRDs new gauge could improve on that simply by adding timers for dots on the gauge and a sound notice when a song is nearly at it's end...like 2-3 seconds before it's end. Simple improvements but would drastically change how the class feels.
Even with the new job gauges, I wish the buffs they pertain to still also showed on our status bar (and the status section of the party list). It would help both with seeing everything together in one place, and enable people to still see their teammates' buffs. The gauges themselves are of varying usefulness (better for some jobs than others), but removing the buffs from the status bar seems to be more of a detriment for any of them.
The new job UI elements need a /hud command for sure. Was disappointed it didn't have one to use while out of combat.
I would rather give us an option of either that big artsy display, or a simplified bar (with an attached small bar, dots, symbols, etc to represent a 2nd resource if we have one) to represent our resource.
