Help pls (BLM)

So I had just recently gotten the hang of BLM before the expansion, and now with the changes I feel like I don't know how to play it anymore. I can't get past the new class quest in 4.0 "Shades of Shatotto", several of my skills are gone, etc. Can anyone please explain to me how I'm supposed to go about playing this class now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess more or less everybody else is trying things out right now as well... currently there is not "the one way to go" cause noone really knows what's right or wrong at this moment... : /

Remember the Thunders were consolidated, so that's one less skill (or a double, depending on your hotbars) to worry about.
Before you click off the unavailable skills, I recommend opening the Role skill menu and checking if they're there. If so, re-place them where you're used to having them.
Remove the rest of the unavailable skills and have a go at the dummy. Familiarize yourself with the new job gouge, place it somewhere it'll be easy for you to look at.
It should at least get you comfortable enough to give it a shot.

Well that quest actually booted me out of game so i am not sure what is all involved, is it a one on one battle?
You still have your sharpcast, IceIV, fireIV, etc.. spells
So the rotation you are used to should be fine, you do not get anything new until later levels anyhow

I don't really have the rotation down, and I may have also been undergeared (approx/ ilvl 200), but I spent most of that fight spamming the new roll skill Drain. Use shields when necessary. Destroy the gates or mirrors ASAP because they will spawn more and more adds. Kill the adds. Bring your health back up with Drain and pots. When Shatotto's health gets low she will start casting flare with a long cast time. Each hit will take a huge chunk of your HP and debuff you, causing the next one to hit harder. That's when you stop using Drain, pop your shield again, and try to get in as many f4's in as possible.

Things are actually easier than ever now on BLM, just spend some time on a training dummy and you'll quickly get it.

- Enochain will stay forever up as long as you have astral fire or umbral ice up.
- The rotation hasn't much changed, but blizzard 4 removes the MP cost for 3 fire spells (after using fire 3 to switch). That's 3 free fire IV's. I can squeeze in about 9(?) Fire IV's before needing to switch back to ice now.
- It may now be better to open with lighting -> swiftcast -> blizzard 3 -> blizzard 4 -> fire 3 -> fire IV.

Its fairly tough, remember to sleep stuff so not overwhelmed. Use drain on cd and a couple decent pots

It's still an aoe. They may have reduced its radius tho, I don't remember how wide it used to be.

Blizzard IV doesn't eliminate the cost of fire spells. It eliminates the cost increase of Fire spells.

Astral Fire III doubles the cost of Fire spells. Blizzard IV's additional effect lets you cast three fire spells at the base cost instead.
