Am I a total scrub, or is that instance a tad brutal? I was reduced to spamming Drain while killing adds because the damage coming in was killing me if I tried using regular rotation.

Note that I am somewhat of a scrub at BLM anyway, so it might be that.

I cleared this not too long ago without issue. When she brings them out you need to prioritize killing the summoning circle adds as they call out more adds to mess with you. Dodge the big obvious aoes. You can kill the thunder orbs to prevent their paralysis from getting to you. And it looked to me like you could break line of sight using the pillars of the room to stop her flare spell at the end. Her version includes a vulnerability debuff, so you dont really want her getting you with it repeatedly. Also, wasnt the sync on it was to level 62? So if all else fails come back to it a little later, possibly with a gear upgrade, and see if that helps.

You're not alone, I found this quest to be more than a 'tad' brutal. I'm kind of confused as to how the class works now.

I, too, couldn't finish this quest. Part of it is, I don't play BLM generally. But I had added excitement with constant disconnects too.

I'll have to chat with some friends, then come back later when the servers aren't trying to kick me around. (Clearly, a sign to never be BLM.)

Generally? It hasnt changed drastically at level 60. They changed Eno so that it no longer has a duration(you can keep it up forever on one cast), but now you lose the buff if you drop out of both astral fire and umbral ice at the same time. They also changed it so that you now have to be in either of the elemental states to activate it, and reduced the recast to 30s if you do lose it. Since Bliz 4 no longer refreshes Eno, they gave it the new Umbral Heart mechanic - basically 3 charges of "cast fire spell for less mana". They changed thunder 2 to an AoE, and thunder 1 is now replaced with thunder 3 when you get it(4 will replace 2 later on). At higher levels new abilities and traits will change things(as they did going from 50-60), but for now you would want to play similarly to how you did a week ago.

So basically... Apply a thunder dot(3 for single target, 2 if an aoe makes sense), go to your elemental stance(ive seen people start with both B3 and F3 though umbral heart will probly make an ice start ideal going forward in most situations), activate eno and ley lines, if you went ice get a B4(hearts!) in then F3 over, do your F4 cycle(F1 refreshes havent changed, neither have firestarter procs though thundercloud procs can now be used to switch from single target to aoe and vice versa if needed), if you flare-finish then transpose to ice otherwise B3 to ice at low mana, B4 for more umbral hearts, reapply thunder if needed, F3 to get back to offense, etc. From a what do i cast next perspective, that is basically the same as it was pre-expansion(the reasons are a bit different in places, but the effect is the same). And in a way, its easier since you no longer have to worry about getting to your B4 cast in time to refresh Eno, so you can just cycle through destruction and regeneration to your hearts content.

Edit: As for this quest, when i logged in yesterday morning they were still having DF issues, so i had a chance to do other things before i attempted it. Some of which was playing around with the new build a bit in a non-pressure situation to make sure i had a feel for it. I personally didnt find it hard(her final cast got me to half health), but i did have some practice and an ilvl of like 268 with lux for a weapon. *shrug* BLM is all i play combat wise(for now).

I just tried this one 3 times with ilvl 216, the damage is jut too much to handle when the adds appear, I guess I'll have to upgrade my gear first.

Tone this quest down.. I am not a tryhard and this is just ridiculous. I see why people DDOS your servers now.
