Sudden crash error

in the middle of exploring rhalgr's reach I received an error message before the game CTD'd

the contents were as follows:
An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV

I'm unsure what's causing it, but if i had to guess, i'll be needing to reinstall the 4.0 update?

EDIT: this is on the PC version (via the official site, not steam), in case it needs clarifying.

occurred again (same exact error message), it appears to happen when the camera-panning ingame cutscenes start.

I've had that same error twice today, tho i have seen it before 4.0.
Also PC Version via official site.

Been stuck for 3-4 hours by now

Time: approx.2 hours ago ago
Frequency: permanent
World name: Zodiark
Character name: Aislinn Carmine
Class/Level: BRD 63
Area and coordinates: The Pool of Tribute/The Ruby Sea(4.5, 22.7)
Steps:
1. complete The Pool of Tribute
2. Use the Instance Exit
3. Opened chat box to type, computer crashed.
4. Unable to access my character but can log on alts. Have submitted a ticket but, looking at this thread, am not holding breath.

Have those error messages waiting for me when I get back to desktop.

I have the unexpected error too... please SE fix this :(
