DPS don't have to DPS

obviously, in light of the mr happy interview at the media tour with yoshi p, dps shouldn't be expected to do proper rotations. i mean, why else would they give dps healing spells and damage mitigation? if ninjas can spam dancing edge and clear their level 60 job quest with 0 buffs, and no echo, why can't we do this in raids? clearly the fights have no enrage or dps requirements so we can just spam the prettiest skills we have until we run out of MP/TP. :rolleyes:

i agree. in fact sometimes i /follow mobs and set them to auto attack and we clear the instance. u know those dps that are below healers on the enmity list in like trials roulette? theyre the real elite players in the game. they pay their subs

Well then, a lot of you DPS are already ahead of the game because you don't do that now.

Though I do see threads coming up about how other jobs have utilities to benefit other members and probably won't use them. Though these fights are not intended to use healer damage to get through it doesn't mean their design doesn't allow it to happen. I guess the salt from us white mages has finally filled to the top and is sprinkling over the other jobs too.

It's also not really reflective of any actual beliefs, or a counter to any beliefs.

EDIT: I think what you're trying to do, is make an equivalency to Healers should heal, not DPS, but then went and made DPS shouldnt DPS?
Wouldnt the equivalent be "DPS shouldnt worry about CC, DPS only" or "DPS shouldnt use quelling strikes, tanks worry about threat" or "Casters shouldnt use Virus, tanks should mitigate." or even "Ranged shouldnt give MP, healers should watch their own MP." rather than DPS shouldnt DPS?

I don't get what's going on here, but I suspect that sarcasm is at play.

whelp, might as well do the healers job when i roll RDM and spam vercure.

Again, this is just the community reacting to bad design. If healers and tanks were kept busy doing healing and threat/mitigation, no one would ask them to DPS (like in most MMOs). Yoshi P can solve this disagreement with content tuning.

Oh, yes. But he doesn't want to, because he wants every half-blind person with an amputated dominant hand and paralyzed other to be able to play healers/tanks without issues.

At one of the fanfests, they did say that Heavensward dungeon content had been too easy and that they wanted to make more challenging dungeon content for Stormblood. Let's see how that works out.
