Question to DPS players (DPS main)

So I have a "Hypothetical" for all the people who play DPS mains, and probably have no interest in tanks. (This could technically apply to healers too)

Thinking on it a bit more, if a job could exist where you were designated "the tank" for queue, etc, but you actually had a pet, who did the tanking for you, but all you did was a rotation like a normal DPS job, would you actually play this tank job? (Pretending it had the aesthetic flair you desire, such as the weapon type, magic/non-magic, etc)

Again, a hypothetical, so lets pretend it was possible that the better you performed your "DPS rotation" the better your pet would function.
(Yes, we all know pets are stupid, but in this fantasy they wont be.)

They hold hate based on your DPS, and mitigate dmg based on your DPS. (obviously you do normal tank levels of dmg, but the rotation, and lack of awareness to adds, and lack of awareness to tank busters are no different than being a DPS)

Would you then consider playing this "tank"? (that's just a weaker DPS essentially) (This isnt about how possible such a concept is, I just really want to know if people would actually want to play it, if it were possible. (and how many ppl would want to, compared to those who wouldnt.))

(Examples of "how" it could be, in case people need more ideas/info, I'd imagine it would have 2 stances, similar to tanks. One stance makes all heals directed toward you also heal your pet. But if you're at full HP, the heals gain a potency boost. Ideally, you want to dodge AoEs. The stance raises pet mitigation based on your stacks or w/e u use for DPS. You also give your pet additional threat based on your DPS. (The pet does little to no dmg, and acts more like a PLD spamming flash)
The DPS stance would then allow your pet to start actually attacking with a -threat effect. Also, the pet no longer gets bonus healing every time you're healed, and you're at max hp.

The pet fights w/e you attack, will not attack anything that has bind/sleep, so as not to break it, but will flash. But you can attack it to break its bind/sleep. And if you attack nothing, it would only attack w/e is aggroed onto party members.
It's movement speed is EXTREMELY increased, so you dont have to worry about it being behind, or taking forever to pull.

Since YOU will be dodging any AoEs a DPS would be dodging, there's no need to make yoru pet dodge AoEs, and therefore your pet will take -90% dmg taken (or more) on dodgable AoEs.)

EDIT: I've already done SMN titan tanking, but this hypothetical was more so being able to actually queue as tank, and be even more efficient than SMN for tanking, along with the idea the job was your ideal aesthetic/playstyle, not just a DoT caster.

I would for quick queues. The only thing stopping me from tanking full time in FFXIV is how boring the role is currently, not any worries about responsibility or not being "TOP DEEPZ." I'd also heal if healers had enough to do, but they don't. DPS is the only place for a FFXIV player to look if they want to focus on executing one role to the limit instead of two roles to a lesser degree

Perhaps a future job (Beastmaster?) we may get such a thing, who knows

For me it would depend on the specifics. My main issue with tanking is that I prefer ranged classes. I still play a tank over any of the melee dps. Having a ranged tank doesn't make a lot of sense though since most things are going to run up to you. I can see maybe some kind of puppeteer class where you "cast" a puppet from range (like MCH turrets) and attacks are delivered from it.
I voted yes because the reason I play dps isn't for the numbers, which seems to be the root of the question.

I would not play it because I don't have the stomach to level another class to max level again. I can't even manage to get my SMN(at 56) to 60 because POTD killed all interest in alt leveling, so leveling another class from the ground up is a no go.

This actually sounds like how they would probably do Puppet Master, customize the Puppet for tanking, set up your character as a support dps for the puppet. Use the different maneuvers to control what the puppet itself does, then use other skills to do a kinda pseudo tank swap between the player and the puppet, or even use some of the stuff pup is known to have to like swapping the HP of the puppet and the master.

So yea, if this were the case I would, but as it stands, nope I'll stick to mch and probably sam and rdm in 7 days 12 hours and 36 minutes. =3=
