Launch Trailer Hype Thread

Do we really need to split the Revolutions hype thread? Probably not, but it's tradition and it's quiet and it's a whole new thing - so here we go!

• What looks to be magicks around Zenos's blade...

The opening theme is intriguing. Really curious about the new rank of Imperials we see with the cross-faced helm. The areas look so great, man.
Magitek Research Facility dungeon with 024, 128 and Magna Roader? Naisu.
I wonder what Rhalgr's beacon is.... hmm... perhaps a flare set up to coordinate an assault?
Zenos does appear to be threatening. Looks like Y'shtola is out of commission--which explains her absence in Othard.
I don't know what's going on during the Yotsuyu voice-over but I hate her voice, lol.
Where is Alphinaud at Susano? Hmmm. I wonder how parrying Susano is gonna work--gonna be really lame with a book, I can tell already!
Is Hien saddled with guilt for "deserting" Doma? or does he suspect Yugiri and Gosetsu work for Yotsuyu now? Curious intro to be sure.
Ixion looks like a FATE/Hunt. Thank god we're going to pass that awful Fortemps theory.
I got way too excited for Estinien and his new armor. It wasn't even a good shot!
Zenos seems to let us live in Rhalgr's Reach then we meet again in Yanxia and this time his blade is covered in dark magicks...?
The final line "Only man has the wisdom and the clarity to embrace violence for its own sake." sounds like something we should expect of Zenos but the voice sounds different than "So spirited... yet so empty"
Where is Alphianud? How disconcerting. We saw him in Revolutions but not this--I wonder if he takes a backseat now?
We know Krile arrives with us in Rhalgr's Reach via Revolutions M/V, but we only see her 'asleep' and contained in the launch trailer. I suspect when the Empire storms the Reach they take her prisoner and experiment on her due to the Echo--sort of like the XIVth wanted to do with Minfilia.
Urianger knowing the poem fits, since the Yoshida post said "a strange hooded man" handed it to him--but it is an Ancient Eastern proverb, apparently.

PREDICTIONS THUS FAR:
Alliance retakes the Wall, we meet the Resistance in the Reach and launch an attack on Ala Mhigo.
We either fail and get ambushed or get ambushed before the attack. We retreat, old dude dies, Y'shtola is injured. Zenos lets us live because he sees no sport in killing us now when we could get stronger.
We run away to Doma on Gosetsu/Yugiri's request. We deal with the Kojin and Susano for Kugane then move inward toward Yanxia and begin our search for Hien which leads us to the Steppes and the various Au Ra tribes. We probably deal with the underwater Temple now since it's supposedly a hold-out of Raen or something?
We lead a revolt in the Doman palace and with the combined forces of the Tribes, Scions, and Doman people we force Yotsuyu out of the palace.
Zenos appears and gives us a firm dressing down, but decides we're still not worthy of killing.
Emboldened by the retaking of the Doman palace, the Alliance and Resistance prepare to launch a second assault on Ala Mhigo.
The Scions / Warrior of Light lead a sneak attack on the Magitek Facilities to hinder their deployment in the coming battle and from there go straight to the Ala Mhigan Palace / Zenos' room.

I suspect the ship graveyard will be optional, something like "hey we found this cool thing while sailing to Doma, maybe you wanna check it out?"

So, our death count looks to be Y'shtola, Alisaie, and our character...that means we play AS OUR OWN TWIN!

Okay but seriously for sure cut in ways to make us think certain characters will die...yet at the same time it seems certain characters on our side will end up dieing, but probably better hidden currently.

Oh yes also ESTINIEN YAY! Need someone to pick up the Azure Dragoon title since I'm switching anyways...also Ixion, the best X summon! I hope it ends up being a good fight!

I'm sad.

Y'shtola is one of my favourite characters, although I can't really put the reason into words. The presentation makes it look very final, and to be honest, if Y'shtola had to go, protecting a friend from an unstoppable enemy is not a bad way.

Alisaie I'm less familiar with (need to go unsynch the Coils for the story one day), but I could be convinced that it's more of a serious injury that takes her out of the immediate battle, rather than outright death. We still need the scene where Alphinaud saves his sister from what looks like a summoning, and I'm not sure it works narratively if she's saved from one danger, only to die later to another completely different one.

At about 0:57 (right after the first scene of the charging army, and right before the scene of Raubahn and Pippin running while a pillar collapses behind them), there's what looks like the Magic Master. Or possibly Number 024, which is basically a palette swap. (Or vice versa.)

Along with the Mag Roader-like enemies, I'm wondering if we're going to see yet more Allagan shenanigans. I don't think Garlemald has started experimenting with biomechanical monstrosities; they seem to be focused more on Magitek machinery. The various FF6 references might be another Crystal Tower scenario.

That can't be the Magitek Research Facilty though as that is already in the game - it's part of the Praetorium (where you storm through the Proto-Ultima Arms with magitek armour.). Unless the SB location is named something else ('Devil's Lab' maybe? ;)). Or maybe 'Magitek Factory #VI or something? (further referencing FFVI ;)).

Again that is already in the game (it's part of the Isle of Umbra in Western La Noscea, where you had to destroy those undead during ARR's original main scenario). Hence this new SB dungeon is officially called 'The Sirensong Sea' according to the Stormblood website) - that name though definitely hints at the FFV dungeon though (sirens? ;)).

Eh? Via Praetoria exists in both Baelsar's Wall and Praetorium. I see no reason why they can't share names again for another Magitek Research Facility in another castrum.

Forgive me but when I said "ship graveyard" I didn't mean to infringe upon "The Ship Graveyard," but I see no problem calling the dungeon a ship graveyard :P

Considering the various FF6 references, it would be interesting if one of them happened to be a master criminal, who is freed either by the WoL or by circumstance, and proceeds to steal all sorts of treasure before us. Finally, they will give us a dilemma of either recovering one of the stolen treasures, or saving a Moogle hostage.

After the Churning Mists, I wonder how many people would leap straight for the treasure without a second thought.

Looking at the Wolf People they seem to be wearing outfits that are at least close to imperial uniforms. My money's on a subjigated beast tribe from Ilsabard somewhere. It's standard practice for the empire to station conscripts outside their homeland after all.

Alternatively they're wearing masks and it's the sole character in the entire game who's associated with wolves, Gaius Van Baelsar, the Black Wolf, back from the dead. (it's not, that'd be silly). Gaius also used a sword. Compelling evidence indeed.
