SUGGESTION: Retainer Interface

Hey, Just a suggestion after tediously clicking through menus to set retainers on their collecting way.

Would it be possible to get a rework on how you interact with retainers? I'm thinking something akin to the squadron mission interface. If not a rework to how they sell things on the marketboard, at the very least a less tedious way to send them out to collect items.

Agreed. Entirely text-based UIs are not user-friendly, and with all the options they've added to the retainer menus over the years, it has become too much. A lot of it can be consolidated into fewer menus and clicks, and the whole thing needs a reskin to bring it in line with the rest of the more modern menus, like the squadron and Wondrous Tails interfaces.

I think they need a up/down button that will cycle through your retainers without having to go through the menus again.

For example, I have 3 retainers:
A
B
C

If I open A's items, and then click the down button, we will switch to B's items. Clicking down again will go to C's items. That will allow us to quickly go through all the retainers and manage them without the crazy amount of clicking.

That's a good idea. They should also merge the gil, storage and selling menus. I don't see why there couldn't just be a general "Retainer inventory" menu that lets you add or remove gil, add or remove items, and put items from your own or your retainer's inventory up for sale. Having these three features in separate menus is very inefficient.

Being able to send out retainers on ventures in one go, and then get all the items at once, would be grand.

I'd also like it if the retainers had portraits in the same style as the squadron members.

At the bare minimum I'd like to have an option to disable dialogue with them so I don't have to click through what I've read them say 50 times already.

I would also vote for a retainer interface overhaul. It's fun customizing your retainers and the options the menu provides are great. But the biggest pain point for me is the dialogue. It adds so many additional clicks when assigning your retainers on ventures and switching between them. I could only imagine for the people that have 5+. I currently use 3 and its tedious due to the dialogue when i'm online and working ventures.

Another idea is to allow your commands and actions to be available to you immediately after selecting your retainer instead of moving into sub menus.

An example is after choosing your retainer a new UI opens up that gives you access to everything at once displaying gil, inventory, retainer's character sheet/gear, venture status/retrieval/assignment.

I'd like to see their dialog moved from the NPC dialog box (where you have to click on it) to the overhead speech bubbles NPCs sometimes have. That way, we'd get the flavor text without the extra clicking.
