Suggested Changes to Res(?)

One of the current hot issues revolving around the new cross role skills are that many of the healer ones in particular are nigh mandatory choices for party play. I think we can improve on that by changing existing skills to incorporate them, and give players more of an opportunity to pick the new skills the team has made. Obviously this is open to alternative suggestions, but I believe the best way to solve the current issue with Swiftcast is to make it not mandatory by making all resurrection skills instant cast while in combat, but also incur a 60 second cooldown. This would encourage smart usage of res, prevent people from spamming hard cast revives, prevent people from accidentally wasting Swiftcast when someone else resses first, and emulate using Swiftcast in the same manner it is today with res skills. Out of combat the skill would not incur the 60 second cooldown. Thoughts?

Note: This could allow developers to remove Swiftcast from the pool of healer cross role skills, or keep it in for people who might want to swiftcast another spell.

Personally I don't see why we would want to change this. Occasionally overlapping Swiftcast rezzes isn't a serious enough issue that the spell itself would need to be tweaked.

Also, leave my Swiftcast alone; it's primarily for skills like Shadow Flare and Holy IMO. If someone dies in non-Savage content while my Swiftcast happens to be down, they can afford to wait a moment if necessary.

You're basically asking for the penalty of a KO to be reduced. This will not help players get better. Whether the fault of the healer or other player failing a mechanic(s), it is important for the game to teach why you don't touch a hot stovetop.

It's not the end of the world if swiftcast is down when you need to rezz someone. You can either wait until it comes off of CD, or endure the hard cast which is perfectly acceptable if the opportunity is there to do so.

I wouldn't be opposed to having rez be instant with a 60 second cooldown. It would be functionally equivalent to how we use it most of the time now, and free up a role-based skill slot if needed. Having the time to hard cast a rez is a rare occasion anyway.

Definitely would still want Swiftcast on my hotbar, though. Holy, Medica II while dodging mechanics....so many uses for it beyond rez.

The main issue with making Res instant with a 60s cooldown is that it removes the ability to hard-cast a Res if truely needed (or the oppertunity is there)... also don't forget that while Swift Cast has the greatest effect, there are other spell speed increases that can be used to cut down the cast time of a Res.

Personally I think simply dropping the cast time to 4 seconds would be good enough, as with spell speed increases you could easily get that down to around 3 seconds (which is close to what it costs you with a Swift Cast + GCD anyway), and if you really think you need instant Res the option is still there (it's just not required anymore). As for balancing this, a small MP cost increase would be enough, as it is MP more than cast time that currently prevents the continued use of Res.

I find already amazing that we can endlessly rez people in a fight...
I'd personally be more prone to make death penalty heavier. Like, you can only be rezzed once or there is a limited amount of time you can rezz someone in a fight.
I'm sorry but the amount of time we pulled a kill with half the players dying 2-3 if not 4 time pushing healer to even use LB to basically rerezz everyone again... How forgivable do you want this game to be?
I'm not saying the fight should be harder, but I find absurbe that death has so little impact on the normal content. Savage is a different story since you might lack dps because of the debuff. Yet, you can still rez them, 70% of your max dps is better than 0.

If I had to rework rez, I'd make it instant (or short cast), with a 3min cd which reset out of combat and I'd remove the state penalty from rezzing someone.

Too many player just don't care and are like "rez?" after they died.

While these are special case, I've reached the point to not rez some people that I know will simply die in the next minute. They just endanger the whole raid by destroying my mana bar.
