Monk and utility

Hello monks everywhere ^^

By any chance do we know if monk will get some utility skills such as trick attack, hypercharge etc etc?

I do not Monk much, but information on Monk has been almost non-existent.
Way more info out there for SAM and the other jobs.
There will be some form of utility if it is personal or for group who knows

They are getting some sort of phys dmg up buff that also gives the monk chakra stacks when people attack during this. So it'll buff the group and you in multiple ways

Honestly I don't think Utility was really a problem with Monk.

From my perspective, they are great DPS partners capable of some seriously strong single target and strong AoE both.

The biggest thing I notice is the skill level of the players with regards to them, Monk is definitely one of the DPS jobs where you do have to know positionals and well.

Well in 3.0, at least in high end raiding environments, Other melee dps were favored over monks because while they had lower personal dps, their utility resulted in an overall higher raid total dps which is why MNK was not a preferred raiding class. Now that they are being given utility, MNK will have much more presence in high end raiding. So to someone interested in savage raiding, it was a potential issue going into 4.0 that has now be fixed.

An other real problem is spinning tank ! God I hate them !

Yes, as said we're getting a raid cd like that increases the group's physical damage while also letting you gather Chakra to do a Spirit Bomb (not real name).

Moreover, Yoshida mentioned specifically that they wanted to improve synergy with jobs that lack it like MNK. The group buff we know of above is probably enough, but knowing they're looking at MNK utility overall is good in the case that it's not.

I think I read they are including a Melee DPS Role Class Skill to ignore positionals for 15 seconds.

The biggest thing wrong with Monk's is that they never really fulfilled their identity. They were supposed to be the strongest personal DPS, but they only ended up being slightly stronger than a DRG that already has utility.

Ironically, it looks like SAM will now successfully fulfill the super strong personal DPS identity and we're being bumped down.
