Question about new stats in stormblood

Having just watched the live letter, we know that accuracy and parry is no longer going to be a stat, to be replaced with tenacity and direct hit (?).

Will this change affect all gear including gear that we already have in the game, or will the devs go down the route of NIN gear and healer gear where they simply stop adding these stats to stormblood gear and add the new stats?

My impression, and a lot of friends in-game, is that they'll take them off of all gear and change it to the new thing. But we won't know for certain til 4.0

The biggest concern has been coming from people that did Accuracy, Piety, and Parry on their 3.0 Relics, which is the biggest concern people should be having.

This does raise more questions, and it's not limited to the 3.0 relics, but the 2.0 ones as well (if you have any lying around).

1) will the stat persist?
2) will it automatically be changed to tenacity/direct hit? (I was under the impression that direct hit was DPS exclusive)
3) will it simply be erased from relics?

The same goes for materia, will that be forceably removed from gear as well?

I believe it was explained that all gear come stormblood will have the changes. Which most likely will include 2.0 gear and 3.0. I could be wrong on that but that's what it seemed like.

Acc will be removed from everything. Acc for DPS will be converted to Direct Hit. Acc materia will be changed to Direct Hit materia.
Parry will be removed from everything. Parry for Tanks will be converted to Tenacity.

As for Relics with those stats, unfortunately it'll be a wait and see what happens on patch day thing. My guess is we'll be able to turn it in to the NPC for a different relic with updated stats (effectively a free stat change).

Aside from rules about overmelding, there's no restrictions on what can be melded to what. If you have Acc/Parry/Piety melded to your gear, it will probably get a direct swap with the new materia. In the PVP section of the video they talked about the Acc to Direct Hit materia conversion a little.
