The spell [Rescue] is going to be the new blight upon Eorzea

I don\\'t know why they removed Cleric Stance and Accuracy but whatever. That is not the most urgent thing for the dev team to reconsider.

Rescue is the new blight upon Eorzea, and not just for a single reason. It is going to be a nightmare skill in Duty Finder. The only place where it is going to be fun to use is in savage raids. Beyond that, this skill is a curse and affront to all upright citizens of the state.

1. People will use Rescue for no reason. They will say "oops misclicked" but secretly they\\'re giggling behind the screen. They\\'ll be euphoric in their devious and mischievous little plan to ruin your opener and rotation for the lulz. And with some cunning this skill can be used to be the catalyst to a wipe too. Imagine the Calofisteri fight for the moment. The Haircuts in the third phase is intense and many people can\\'t avoid it well right now. What better way to wipe the raid than the pull the MT to your side while you\\'re at a corner, causing the Haircut to cut across the entire arena?

2. Blame will be placed upon healers for NOT using Rescue. Although Rescue seems to be an oGCD ability, and therefore should not interrupt our DPS if we plan ahead, many dragoons and black mages will now be clamoring for healers to rescue them so they don\\'t have to do mechanics. If they die, it would be the healers\\' fault for not using Rescue. Excuse me? What if I decided not to cross-class Rescue? Who then will you depend on?

3. Ping issues will cause Rescue to be unreliable unless used in anticipation of a mechanic. With the data center move many people now have higher ping. This will cause Rescue to have a higher latency for most players. If used as an emergency option to pull a DPS out of danger, it would be like what Benediction is currently. It might trigger too late. If it has an animation delay, that would be even worse. Given a lot of mechanics already have a short reaction time for you to react (after considering latency), any extra animation time and latency for Rescue itself to resolve will make this skill unreliable to the extreme.

4. Idiot healers will Rescue people into danger. You know those healers. The healers who can\\'t manage to stay alive even when not DPSing and just standing around. You know what will happen? They\\'ll see a mechanic falling on the BLM and will panic when the BLM fully intends to soak that with Manaward. The idiot healer will Rescue the BLM, first causing the BLM to have to leave their Ley Lines...and since the healer is an idiot they do not realize they\\'re standing on another mechanic. In one fell Rescue, the healer managed to kill two people in one swoop.

5. It would be awesome for Savage raids. Melees can squeeze more uptime on the boss and the healer can Rescue them away for a mechanic, then they can Shoulder Tackle back for maximum uptime. Or Rescue a Summoner in the midst of Dreadwyrm Ruin III casts (since they don\\'t have Aetherial Manipulation). Or Rescue a DPS that went too far out for AoE heals. The possibilities are endless.

I feel like we're coming full circle with the, 'Boy who Cried Wolf,' parable. You've been trolling for so long that what might be an actual legitimate thread feels like something I should be dismissing as a troll thread...

I actually agree with some of this, I am actually worried Rescue is going to be the next grief tactic, but it remains to be seen.

I did think of this as well as soon as I saw the skill but until I see it in action, I will HOPE we are grown enough to not go down such a petty route. Though, will admit if you tick of a healer I can see that being the revenge move into a pit or AOE.

It would be neat to be able to save somebody from Ancient Flare or whatever, but I'll probably never take it over any of the other options.

It's a toy for people in statics and trolls and nothing else.

I can just see the BLM's raging when a healer yanks them out of their leylines right after they use their skill that ports them to them.

I can see it both ways, trolls messing with tanks and people refusing to get out of bad because "the healer should use rescue, so I can keep dpsing".

I'm going to use Rescue to bring Skyrior closer to me.

This is an utterly stupid idea giving the easy to rile playerbase a tool to be petty with when they get upset over whatever little thing; being called an elitist for trying to advise them or getting kicked for getting fed up with them not listening and making your tone "harsh" will be replaced by some moron pulling you into an aoe or ruining your rotation/stack/etc.

It also doesn't help the idiot who can't dodge to learn to do so; the oblivious rando is going to remain oblivious even to the fact he's getting dragged out - in the long run nothing changes and helps none. I do see it being of great use to raiders though, such examples as staying close to the boss until the last moment etc etc.

Overall - I'd hope to see this removed when the inevitable majority turn this into a trolling mini-game. The fact it even made it in has made me bothered. It's also a rather pointless skill only a niche will utilize if at all; if it ain't broke don't fix it comes to mind here.
