Chocobo Breeding Question

I have just started chocobo racing and breeding. ffxivchocoboracing has been a fantastic resource. As I go through but so far a pattern has occurred which the site did not address that I have seen.

Is the sex of the offspring always the same as your racing chocobo sex? Or, is RNG just screwing with me?

I only ask this because I started with a male, and now at P5 and few extra breed attempts at P4 (my P4 birds all had terrible stats) have all been male. That is 7 consecutive breeds now all, with male as the result.

It's random. Keep trying for a girl! :)
