Scholar stats... hm.

I main War, but been playing Scholar alot, and over the years went from hating to play it, to really enjoying it.

That being said, I got mixed feeling about the stat weights, in parts because I know for heals, CRIT is pretty nice commodity as a Scholar because Crit Adlo's/Succors. But I also know that Dervy and most sources rate Spell Speed to be King when it comes to DPS.

But as I'm looking over my gear, which I also use for WHM and AST, I'm trying to decide if I wouldn't enjoy morefor myself just prioritizing CRIT over S/S so that when i do stance dance back into heals, I'll be more likely to get those crit shields I want to begin with.

Just curious what some career scholars decided to do. Also in the final steps of Relic for SCH now and currently have the stats split between SS and Crit

Honestly i've never really worried about healer stats the way I do over my dps stats. for sch if your doing something like a relic weapon its all about ss and crit. because of cast time and crit sheilds. but other than that if your keeping everyone alive and sprinkling in some dps your doing fine.

Crit shields are VERY nice, but unreliable no matter how much CHR you stack. However, if your other healers share gear with your SCH, you are still going to benefit from CHR. I don't play AST, but my WHM has more abilities that can crit compared to SCH. Since I main both, I have always placed CHR above SS when my healers share gear. That said, the only gear they shared through the leveling stages were belt and accessories. I always crafted two sets of each of the remaining slots to customize stats and glamour. This is totally not required for your healers in the leveling stages, and just something I enjoy doing.

For the custom slots (head, body, hands, legs, feet), I would meld SS for my SCH instead of CHR, when I could. If using HQ gear, secondary stats on the item are often at, or near cap. If the piece of gear could not benefit from a SS meld, then it gets CHR by default. If neither could be used, then I used DET. And that is basically it all the way to 60.

SpS affects the GCD and DoTs, but you also want some Crit in the build too so your broils and DoTs can crit, along with healing of course. A lot of debate went on which one should one have more of but thankfully this tier we got pretty good Alex and Shire Scholar gear this tier to have a good Crit/SpS balance and allowing melds and anima to flex it a bit to one's play style and raid composition (speed kills, farm, progression, etc)

My Scholar anima was 46 ACC/142 Crit/95 SpS, as I played all-healers this savage tier and didn't have an anima for all of them. So melding and gear-sharing aspect played into it. I flip-flopped SpS/Crit a bit to test things but ultimately left with max crit cause I also didn't have a dragoon (Battle Litany) anymore towards the end of the tier. With gear and food I was always in the 915+ SpS threshold. On the healing side there were times you get the Critlo Deployment shield for the A12S first time stop and neither healer has to heal it so that's free damage. Or saving several wipes in A12S because of Critlo Deployments for 2nd inception when someone takes too much tetrashatter damage because they were antsy. Sometimes you can feel validated when you get a Crit when you need it.

But if you do any end-game content like Zurvan and Savage and want to do damage, ACC is the first stat you have to cap at 592. Cause missing as a healer is wasted MP and there is no point in optimizing if you can't hit reliably. But if you don't intend to or want to do the content then you can do what you want otherwise like Crit/SpS. Of course DET is rather meh as-noted by Dervy, but we have really good gear pieces that are Crit/Det like the Alex chest, Shire Pants that should be used whenever possible.

If you meld ACC V on every piece of gear then you can get away with +46 on the anima and never have to eat food to cap, or you can use DPS food that doesn't have ACC for more Crit/SpS like Flaaugnarde. Or can even go less than 46 if you want to eat ACC food like Priestlies to cap. Or if you only play Scholar as your healer you can go all-in ACC on one-stat on the anima and put the rest in Crit/SpS or one, and pick and choose other melds where needed. This method is all-in because it depends on an relic to get the bulk of ACC instead of your gear set.

I have 1000 SS vs 900 Crit. I DPS a lot in raids and trials, but one thing you gotta remember that Crit gives you is crits on Embrace and Whispering Dawn, which can help both you and your co-healer a lot. Tbh that's the main reason I decided to stick to a high Crit, since Eos critting constantly saves a lot of healing. I'd say that the crit shields are at the bottom of my priority list when it comes to substats. The second reason for a high Crit for me is Lustrate, which will usually top off a DPS with a single cast if they took damage that has to be healed through in an emergency. It might be a "me" thing, but my Lustrates seem to Crit like 90% of the time, hahaha.

And of course, DPSing is also greatly affected by Crit, so I would recommend having a relative balance of the two.

When/if SS starts affecting Embrace's CD is when it will become SCH's top Stat. Until then prioritize SS and Crit about the same, but meld Acc then crit.

You only need to put on 131 ACC to reach 593 accuracy in game with Tier V ACC melds. Letting you put 10 points into SS.

Because I play all healers, and only intend on one relic, I meld Accuracy V's. Not the best option for a career sch, but like i said, I'm a career War, who's taking a liking to SCH :P. But I appreciate your inputs.
