That was so confusing to read...
Basically, one mode is for pro-1080p, the other is pro-60FPS.
I think they're gonna go for like 2k or possibly even 4k resolution at the cost of your frames or 1080p at 60 fps, which the PS4 pro's hardware is capable of doing easily enough
I don't know why they can't do 4k@60FPS (or higher for that matter).
Oh, you can, just kill the lighting, particle effects and texture resolutions and you can do it. It's mostly a matter of GPU cores. That said, for most preple unless they do a pixel by freeze frame, close range pixel comparison, 1440p checkboard rendering and scaled to 4K is indistinguishable from 4K in motion from a normal viewing distance. So, instead of gimping your framerate by targeting pointless resolution, why not compromised slightly and get better frames?
