[Dev 1081] Achievements
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/11099
News of the achievements system has just been posted on the main page but one thing remains unclear.
It has been said several times that the achievements and history system would be different. A simple question now :
Considering we will already have achievements complete at the release of the patch, will they be automatically carried over ?
I'm obviously speaking about things like "Be a level 50 miner", etc...
-
I bet some will and some won't (example: kill 100 enemies?)
-
Clarification on that would be wonderful, I agree.
-
Indeed, that is what I am thinking/hoping too.
-
We already have an achievement system in place. This will only give them an interface so that we can easily keep track of them. All achievements you've unlocked should remain unlocked.
-
Things that you can only do once, like completing a main scenario quest, would have to be automatic.
Things that can be repeated, such as defeating X number of enemies, might be a different matter indeed, but I'll hazard a guess that the achievements section will use your history to see what you get.
Yo ho, yo ho, a miners life for me...
-
A quote from the news : "* Achievements are separate from History, the latter of which will continue to exist.".
And the producer and devs have been insisting on that, thus my question.
-
Hope so.
The thought of doing DD again for an achievement already earnt makes me want to cry.
I think it safe to assume achievements such "Level 50 Miner" will automatically be obtained (if your level meets the achievement) once you unlock the catergory.

On top of most of these... I'm surprised that a lot of these achievement examples appear to over lap with the History... I was hoping they would... well, be more unique
-
That would be the proper way to go^^
