Account Region Transfers PLEASE

(apologies ahead of time if this is posted in the wrong section. i've never used the forums before.)
Probably close to 2 years ago my girlfriend bought me this game as a gift so we could play together. She purchased it from the EU Square Enix store while I live in North America. While I could still play the game with little issues this circumstance has caused major issues.

Time and time again I have been unable to partake in regional events (the Far Eastern Garb one taking place at the moment is what caused me to make this post to begin with) or purchase items from the Square Enix store because the EU shop won't deliver to America and the NA shop comes with item codes that won't work with my account. This has been the sole cause of at least 95% of the support tickets I've had to send to Square, and practically all of them come back with "we can't help you goodbye".

I can't claim that I even remotely understand the technical side of things, but as it stands now this system has only served to cause massive issues with my enjoyment of this game. Square's unwillingness (/"inability") to change the region of an account, allow you to select what your account region is when purchasing a product, or even something as small as allowing the transfer of one regions item code to anothers so someone can fully benefit from a purchase is by far the largest complaint I have with this game, and while probably an overreaction I honestly thought about quitting over this stupid little event all together.

All I want is one of two things: Ability to change your account region (maybe make it a one time thing so it can't be abused, or even charge money for it) or the ability to gave an item code changed to work with a different region (so, for example, if I bought a Carbuncle Plushy I could still get the minion in-game by having them change the item code from an NA one to an EU one). Neither of these seem like horrible tasks and server/region transfers in general are something most other MMOs have. The only reason Square keeps it this way is because they like to be needlessly difficult, and boy let me tell you.. If I knew the people that ran the game were such a giant pain in the rear I never would've shown signs of wanting to play it to begin with.
