Oceanic player looking for server.

Hello, I started playing in 2013 but stopped because all my friends stopped.
Saw the new xpac and decided to try coming back but for some reason my old account is gone, I can't even recover the pword because the account doesnt exist apparently, more importantly though after starting again I don't know what server to jump on.
I hear Tonberry is good but its not allowing new characters. So where to now? Also what kind of latency can I expect and how badly is gameplay affected.

If you're in Oceania, you'll probably have the best connection to one of the JP servers (anything on Elemental, Gaia, or Mana datacenter); however, you would be subject to certain community expectations that you may or may not be used to depending on your familiarity with Japanese culture and language.

Connections to North American servers (anything on Primal or Aether datacenter) are a tricky question right now because the North American data centers (Primal and Aether) are moving next month, so however good or bad anyone's connection is to an NA server right now, it could improve or grow worse next month.

Whichever datacenter you decide to play on, if there's a particular server that you really want to get on, you can do a paid transfer to it. The population locks only apply to new characters. Once you have a character on any server, you just have to wait three days before you can do a paid transfer.

I doubt the NA data center changes would make playing in Oceania any better. The distance between Australia and the USA is over 9000 miles, DBZ reference not intended. With the distance being that large, no amount of Data Center improvements could make US servers a great option for Oceanic players.

JP data centers will likely be your best option for good ping.

There is two ways to Tonberry:
a) transfer
b) creating in 3 am or so.
So I switched from masamune to tonberry easily.

Or you can create character on tonbery's datacenter because LFG takes players from all servers in it.
