How much accuracy do I actually need?

So my entire gear set asides from my weapon is 270 so I'm thinking over what types of materia I should infuse it with. I know people go crazy over accuracy but I'm not sure how much materia space it should take up.

It depends on your role (and even differs between physical dps and casters).

Since your information on the left say you are WHM, I guess you want to know cap for healers/casters?
It's 592 for both.

If you're the main healer and you rarely dps, then your materia is better spent on det and spell speed. Otherwise you'll want to meld to the accuracy cap first before spending your points elsewhere.

It's worth noting, I'm melded under cap but rarely miss, my group says it's about 5% miss rate. And I'm just putting up dots while I main heal for our bird farms.

Meld to accuracy cap first, even if you're "the main-healer," and specially if you're WHM, since every DPS spell you use can miss and consumes a hefty amount of very needed MP that is 100% wasted if you miss. Once you hit the 590 or 592 mark, feel free to meld whatever else. Putting accuracy in a relic weapon helps you not having to meld Accuracy into every materia slot in your gear too.

You will want to meld accuracy materia (usually Tier V) into as many slots as possible to reach the accuracy cap. You can also use food (preferably HQ) that boosts your accuracy to help push you up to where you need to be. I see most people recommend Grilled Sweetfish for healers. You could also use HQ Baked Pipira Pira, which adds a max of 18 accuracy and gives you some crit as well.

Caps right now are 592 for casters/healers, and 699 for melee/ranged physical DPS and tanks.

I wouldn't spend excessive amounts of gil on this, though. Because the devs did say accuracy was going to be reworked in 4.0, so we don't know what it'll be then or if we'll even still have accuracy as a stat. Meld and eat food to your heart's content, but don't invest an extraordinary amount of gil/time for it. :3

Do not meld det on any healer, it's the worst stat for all. She probably meant crit and spell speed. :) But if you're even thinking about trying current extreme primals or any Savage as healer, meld accuracy first (to 592 with or without food).

The first attribute healers should watch out for is the acc cap imo, because you don't want to miss an dmg spell in this game, since you can help skip mechanics aka prevent dmg with this or prevent the enrage of an fight. The second one, would be piety, cause as an healer you should have of course enough mana to heal people. Sadly, nobody will be able to tell you which gear you should use to get XY amount of mana, because this depends on your skill, your group comp, the other co-healer and of course the fight you are in. After that go for crit/ss as you wish, but do note that higher spell speed needs more piety. Never go for det as taika said. Not worth it in my opinion.

As for melds, i recommend going with enough acc V melds to reach 592 acc, if you got enough items to trade in for acc V. If not maybe change the anima or get an certain amount of acc in gear and use buff food for the rest. One of those acc fish is very cheap, at least on my server.
