Cleric Stance in PvP

Where do you guys stand on this. I revile the idea that Square took it away because of healer aoe instead of just reducing the damage in healer aoe in PvP.

This is not a discussion on if we should be dpsing or healing. I agree we should be healing, this is a discussion on if we should have the option to do damage at all. Please do not chime in on this if your healer is not your main.

I'm fairly certain that it was more down to how strong healers were 1v1 early on rather than issues with AoE.

PvP is very much an afterthought with FFXIV though, I don't think SE will ever have the resources to implement it to a degree where it's as polished and refined as even Vanilla WoW.

Now you're trying to shut down people with healer input unless it's their main?

No, we shouldn't. Why? Because people will try staying in Cleric way beyond reasonable and kill the alliance. Unlike PvE, damage is in no way predictable. I have had matches were I went from barely doing more than refreshing Medica II to spam healing through two alliances trying to pincer. There are very few instances where you'd even want to look at Cleric and it's not worth getting healers who won't actually heal.

It was far too overpowered, this is coming from someone who mains Scholar & also played WHM in PVP. All you needed was a gang of WHM to drop into Cleric Stance & Holy down everyone in AoE range. It was ridiculous. PVP as it stands needs a huge revamp but the simple reinstatement of Cleric Stance would be fatal.

lol nah, I don't think you've realized this, but unlike pve, pvp is incredibly healing intensive. You don't have time to dps. Heal your team.

You could use your dps abilities in defensive ways that could help your team though;

-If you see an enemy running away from your melee dps? slow their ass down with swiftcast + stella/stone

-You need to get away from annoying enemy dps and/or interupt melee lb? swiftcast + ice 2/holy.

-you wanna interupt enemy bursts at the begining of the match whichnot only helps you but your team too? sprint + swiftcast +holy or sprint + celestial opp

-you want to push some one away from you and sometimes even kill them if you aim it properly? fluid aura


You gotta think outside the box and i know what I'm about to say is going to be taken out of context but in pvp, you are a healer + support. You are there for that only.


edit - now that i think about it, if for some reason you really wanted to dps as healer, you could just equip int accessories and wear the field commander set and go to town. It would gimp your healing though and people would think you're trolling.

Healer main in pvp for over a year with experience in WHM and AST.

Nice of you to disregard all the advise and reasons as to why CS isn't a good idea. It's almost as if you don't care and all you want is for people to agree with your preconceived notion that the removal of CS is bad. I even told you a way to dps as a healer if you really wanted to in the edit above that you ignored.

Just go and play a dps class if you want to dps so bad ffs.
