3.57 Hinterland drop rate of Luminous Crystals incorrect!

15 fates only got 1 crystal...
all other areas are fine but only hinterlands doesnt drop as fast as them

FFXIV has a pretty sophisticated RNG, so as long as the base drop rate isn't more than 50% you're still more likely to not get a crystal from each attempt.

You only need 1 crystal now soooooo....

Looks to me it's working as intended. Because as others mentioned there's always RNG and I remember having to run a couple of zones for hours doing more then 80+ fates to even get a crystal or two. Sometimes they would drop at the first fate but the last one would be such a pain in the butt to get. Before the adjustments from last night. Reminded me a bit of the old relic quest. So I guess you're running 15 fates and getting 1 crystal, since you only need 1 and not 3 anymore is a good drop rate I personally wouldn't complain about.

What about the hundreds people did, if not over 1000, for the old amount of crystals, or even the ATMA of 2.X?

Go talk to the crafters too, ask them about their 80% Hasty Touches missing a lot. They'll be more than happy to talk about that *cough*

Yea, 10% is 10%, that means 90% chance to miss, 90% is 90% that means 10% chance to miss, just because you miss 15 times and think to yourself but if it's 90/100 then that must be 9/10 times I should get it, then you're thinking of RNG in the wrong way. RNG has the quirk of rolling the lower end at times so it's pretty much bad luck that out of all the zones you had 1 zone where you kept rolling a fail to get the crystal.

There are exactly two categories of randomness.

100% : guaranteed to succeed, praise the deity of choice for not requiring the sacrifice of two left gonads and two first-borns.
Not 100%: expect it to fail, praise the deity of choice when it doesn't.

That you got a crystal at all after only fifteen FATEs should have you thanking your patron god.

Were you around for the old Atma FATE grinds back in the day? I farmed for four hours one day in one single zone and no drop. I'm sure many others have similar stories. RNG is a b*tch, but it is what it is. Like everyone said, thank your lucky stars you got it all instead of having to do 30, 40, or God forbid 100.
