Discussion about gear progression through tiers
After ARR and HW gear progression, after all 3 tiers, there are some things I liked and didn't like.
Primals
In HW, every primal drops weapons only
In ARR, Some primal dropps weapons, some drops accessories, some drop both
For HW, every Primal release on a new tier, drops weapons which instantly invalidates relic and raid weapon from the previous tier.
What if:
Primals that are released on a new tier either drops 1-2 accessories or 1 accessory and a weapon
For example it could drop bracelet and ring, or ring and weapon etc.
Accessory ilvl same as tomestone ilvl, weapon that is equal to previous raid tier/relic. This happened for shiva and it was pretty good progression.
24 man
They pretty much followed the same formula since WOD. ST was annoying because you have to roll for the upgrade item.
However, the gear that it drops is 95% bad, and heaps of them drop to the floor. Most people run 24 man for the upgrade item, not the actual gear!
What if: The gear that drops from 24 man is the same ilvl as upgraded tombstone gear. That way BIS changes when 24 man shows up. A possible counterbalance is to allow players to choose between gear or upgrade item.
Savage Raid gear
Some people will say: Then raid gear sucks!
What if: Raid gear can be pentamelded. Upgraded tomestone and 24man gear have normal meld slots.
Relic
Please release it at the same time as a new tier... not ages later
Normal Raid
Should be same ilvl as previous best gear.
Example with numbers
Midas tier ends with highest ilvl 240 armor and 245 weapons.
Creator tier:
Tomestone gear is i250
Normal alex gear is i240
Crafted gear is i240
Sophia accessory is i250
Savage gear is i260
Upgraded tomestone is 260
24 man gear is 260
Sophia weapon is i245
tomestone weapon is i250
Zurvan weapon is i255
Upgraded tomestone weapon is i260
Savage weapon is i265
Basically only +20 ilvls upgrade per tier. Obviously if they want to do 30 or 40 they can stretch out the numbers a bit. Main ideas are:
Raid gear won't be completely useless each new tier (be more like ARR) as it is the same ilvl as normal raid gear and crafted. Crafted is better because it can be pentamelded, but if raid gear can also be pentamelded, then it won't be instantly invalidated. Some pieces might be replaced, but its not like now where you just change to full i250 set for creator tier.
Primal weapon for the new tier won't invalidate previous relic or raid weapon. I liked FCOB progression - relic weapon was good, shiva weapon was good, previous tier gear was still used!
