Free Trial for Mac?

With the removal of time restriction from the free trial, I was hoping to get some friends into it, but some of them only have Macs (who prefer not to bootcamp it).

I tried searching, but most of the results that turned up were over a year old and back then the free trial was not open to the Mac client. Has that changed with the recent change too?

If I remember correctly, the Mac was addressed not so much time ago, the result was:

• the client will be revamped for next expansion;
• the performance will be always lower than the windows client on same bootcamp machine due to opengl limitations (and here, Apple recently released Metal as new gaming API, I wonder if we will get any good news later);

About the trial itself, the only limitation if that you have to install the new client in order to play XIV as trial and continue with same character after trial, as long as the old trial client does not allows it.

But if anything not correct, please nail it!
