Suggestion for an Auction House

I want to just put an idea out there, hope the right people read this. LOL I think it would be an awesome idea, if feasible, to add an auction house into the game. This would make markets more competitive and give each server's marketplace a little balance.

Within the Auction House you can have bids for unique and classic glamour gear and housing furniture. And make some that cannot be traded and can't be sold on the marketplace as well. Have this event held at different times of the day so players could participate whether its in the morning, midday, or at night.

This wouldn't be a great success with player items though it might be a huge success if used with player housing.

I wish SE would allow trading of player houses. Would be even cooler if the houses could be auctioned off xD

So WoW's black market AH? It's good for a legitimate gil sink, but I fear something offering unique items like that would only encourage an increase in RMT.

After what happened with FFXI's Auction House (which was inundated with RMT using the AH to turn their ill-gotten loot into gil which then then on-sold to players and the resulting hyperinflation to the in-game economy), I'm pretty sure SE are not planning on adding an AH to FFXIV. 'Once bitten, twice shy' and all that.

The MB more or less serves the same function anyway, the only difference is you're buying the item outright straight from a player rather than bidding on it, but it's handled the same.

Thought about this as well, but unless constantly regulated and tracked for both user and developer it will give a pretty easy way to move massive amounts of gil. A blind Auction would be interesting which would auto select the lowest price.

another alternative would be separate markets divided by quantity and FC's ... for instance... the Normal MB and a FC company workshop merchants board where it deals with items in the thousands. which would trickle down into the normal board ... kind of like how botters provide the shards but the more they gather for items to sell to trade items to move gil, the harder it gets to track what will sell unless all they are doing is transferring their own gold around...but then as they sell its a smaller and smaller pool.
