Returning player
Hi all. Just came back to the game after a long time away. Finally got through the main story and into heavensward and unlocked Dark Knight. My question is, how are people leveling up now days? I went to try to find some fate groups in Eastern La Nosca but it doesn't seem people do these much anymore. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Palace of the Dead (located in Quarrymill) is a great way to level fairly quickly.

As a tank, you typically have a basically instant que to dungeons, and as its DRK youre leveling you already have them unlocked until at least level 50. Your daily roulette bonus is a good thing to remember too. But yeah, a lot of people have moved their leveling efforts out of fate farming and into PotD.

Dungeons, Daily Roulettes (levelling and 50 roulettes. Guildhest will offer a small amount of exp that becomes kind of useless in the later levels), and Main Story quests are what I found to be the most effective ways to level. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Palace of the Dead, but you might be, so go ahead and try it since it does grant EXP. As Frizze said, you'll be able to get into any dungeon you want almost instantly, which is always convenient lol.

Dungeons are still the fastest along with new beast man quest mixed with Heavensward hunting board during down time seems the fasted to me. Some spam Palace of the dead for decent Kianna weapons for lvl 60. Still doing story line will guarantee you a fast lvl 60.

I've leveled all three tanks to 60 and found the best way (since tanks have nearly instantaneous queues) is to do your leveling roulette and then spam the highest level dungeon you can do. PotD is great until 50 but afterwards kind of tapers off on the experience points compared to doing a Heavensward dungeon. Unless, of course, your dungeon runs are taking much more time than anticipated due to wipes, etc. Of course, there is the occasional wipe in PotD for whatever [ridiculous] reason and the fact you don't get any EXP until you complete PotD (as opposed to getting XP from mobs in a normal dungeon) it can be a waste of time in those situations.

Another issue with Palace of the Dead is, unless you're in a premade, you likely won't have a party that will let you tank properly. Palace tends to be a bit of a free for all.
I recommend you familiarize yourself with the DRK tool tips, go into Haukke, and level from there. DRK is pretty forgiving if you already know the basics of tanking. Mp management is something you'll learn as you go along.

Another plus to potd is by the time you get your character to 60 you should have enough to get a 255 weapon for him.
