Palace of the Dead music

The music of FFIV is one of the things that makes the game sparkle. Can anyone help me ID two tracks I've heard more than once?

(And share which music you hope to/like to hear when you run Palace!)

Song #1: Sounds like a TRON-riff that could easily be in season two of Stanger Things. [Answer: Tears for Mor Dhona -- starting at 2:33 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2S5lHeM08U ]

One of those two (since you didn't provide any sound clips) is likely the Dueling theme...which we still have no name for. Since people don't duel much, its not all that known.

The other is probably the theme played during the instance in ARF that's part of the Waring Triad questline (3.3; between Sephirot and Sophia); unsure if it has a name yet either.

I love a lot of the music playing in palace of the dead, but there's a song that just feel like pure torture and makes me try to finish those three floors as quickly as possible. The go go posing rangers theme.
As for my favourite, it would have to be the final floors theme. Gives the place the eerie atmosphere it deserves

Tears For Mor Dhona by Nobuo Uematsu is actually, as the name suggests, the old Mor Dhona zone BGM theme from the original version of FFXIV (version 1.0). In fact, much of the Palace of the Dead music is actually old version 1.0 tracks, including quite a few that have not actually been used anywhere else in ARR.

And speaking of 1.0 Mor Dhona music, the other track you asked for in your first post might be Phantoms on the Lake, also by Nobuo Uematsu, which was the 1.0 Mor Dhona battle theme. A greatly abridged version appears elsewhere in ARR in certain dungeons, such as Diabolos's battle theme at the end of Lost City of Amdapor (NM), retitled as 'Persistence' on the Before the Fall OST, but this version is missing the slower, lighter second half of the track that you mentioned.

Turns out it was The Great Gubal Library Theme (Ink Long Dry). I was there once right before my several month hiatus from the game but didn't associate the song with that dungeon. The song you mentioned though, I can see why it seems similar from my description, at least the part that starts at 1:17 in the vid I linked. That is fun as well :o:D
