Where exactly is the WoL from?

We know the WoL was obviously birthed by normal means and not way of the Virgin Mary, yet it was brought to my attention that we're never explicitly told where he's from. In the opening of the game, the NPCs speak to the WoL under the pretence that he's obviously not native to the continent [Which, I guess is a storytelling tool], yet it still leaves that burning question: Where is he from? Did he just magically spawn out of thin air? Does he have a country of origin? Or are these things left ambiguous on purpose?
