The last story part around the HW anima relict (spoiler)

So this is my very first own thread on this forum so please be gentle. :eek:

I finally finished my first anima weapon and thus also finished the quests around it.

Now I always did find it kinda strange to create a soul just for the purpose to let it fight as a weapon, even more since its now kinda mass produced. Yet I also liked other parts of the story, like how you could give it a gender or say whats important for it. (Live your life d^^)

But the last quest also left me with a question: Did they create a plothole?

I mean before the fighting with primals we also needed to run older dungeons but at least in the German version it sounded like you go there and just kinda remember the fights and not do it again, which would not make any sense since the bosses are death and cant be fought twice. But in the German text for the primals they said that you truly fight against the primals again..for you, your weapon and whole Eorzea. (Cant remember the correct wording)

How is this possible? I could understand it if its also something like remembering the fight (maybe through Echo) but its sounds like we fight them for real. All of them! Even the warring triad that should not even exist again since their followers are dead. Also wouldnt it be strange that we just killed every single existing primal and yet nobody cared, not even the scions?

Can someone try to explain to me how its possible, or maybe say what was said in English? Maybe it was some kind of mistranslation? Or maybe I just misunderstood it?

I know its kinda nitpicking but yet I still could not stop thinking about it so I thought that maybe I would create a post in the lore forum and hoping that some might have an answer.

The English text implies that you're recalling your fights vividly, not actually participating in them again. Considering that many of them (the Warring Triad in particular) flat out CAN'T be resummoned since all individuals capable of resummoning them are now dead, this seems to be the more sensible interpretation.

On the other hand Echo is a funny thing. It's sort of implied that you're actually inserting yourself into the past when you use the Echo - you can interact with people, and such. Perhaps you're actually taking the place of your past self, and fighting the monster again in the past?

Really, you can use whatever interpretation you like. If the quest text really does say that you fought an additional Summoning, though, I gotta wonder what the writers were smoking!

Most of the original group of primals can be resummoned as the beast tribe that does it is still around. Shiva is the odd one out given her unique origin compared to others, but strictly speaking it's possible for a group to still summon a version of Shiva not necessarily tied to Ysale...but I think she's the most problematic to explain.

Ravana and Bismarck can also be resummoned.

For the Warring Triad it's possible for you to fight a simulation (that's what EX is) so there is room in the lore for you to fight a simulation designed to emulate their strength when you originally fought them.

The quest explicitly says it's just a mental revision of the fights.

Thanks for your answers. Damn than I must have misread the German text. V_V''' But good to know that it was just a mental fight of them. But his talk about fighting for Eorzea really made it sound like it was for real. At least these mental versions make sense. :)
