Do I need to "know" recipes?

Im just starting out as an weaver doing levequests and im at level 7. How can I craft stuff for myself? I have some "awarded" recipes, can I only make item I have recipes for? Or can I just make any if I get a recipes from the internet?

You don't have to awarded a recipe to be able to synthesize it. Any web search for ingredients works for me.

Faz is correct. Your recipe list will have about 8 of the most recent recipes you've crafted. So you can just click on one of those, and the game will auto-fill the materials from your inventory (using NQ ingredients fist, and then HQ ingredients once all the NQ are gone).

But you don't need to be awarded any recipes. If your crafting level is high enough (within 10 levels of the item's crafting level), you can make anything in the game if you put the correct materials into the crafting slots. So feel free to pull any recipes off the internet.

You might want to be a little wary of where you pull your recipes from, though. Recipes were revamped in the latest patch, and some sites took a while to update their recipes. Some good sites are mooglebox and Yellow Gremlin. (Yellow Gremlin took forever to update, but it looks like they finally have. Yippee!)

One way you can tell whether the recipes are up-to-date is to look for recipes that begin with "Dated." Those are old recipes. But if they're not listed as "Dated ____," then the website has only the old recipes, and none of the new ones.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I must have tried old recipes then. But I couldn't figure out how to add crystals? Do they add themselves?

Just place the main ingredients in the boxes, then choose main hand (chance of HQ synth) or off hand (sometimes multiple quantity synths) and then next menu will lets you choose the item you are crafting as some ingredients make more than one type of item. This also shows the number of crystals that the crafting will add in automatically.
