Excess Tomestones

Could we see a change so that excess Tomestones do not just magically melt into the air?

Say you've hit the weekly cap of 450/450. You do an Expert run and that's 90 Tomestones of Scripture that just up and vanish. Thin air. Can we see a change where those 90 excess Tomestones of scripture become 180 Tomestones of Lore? Say you're capped on Lore, they become 360 Tomestones of Esoterics. Capped on Esoterics? 720 Poetics. Capped on Poetics too? 1,440 Gil.

Just hate seeing them wasted, especially for those who are trying to do the tomestone grinds for their relics/anima.

As someone who's been working on umbrites for the last 56 years, I approve this idea!

Just to kind of clarify, the idea is that this would be automatic. So if you're capped on Scripture, and go do Vath Dailies, no more, "You've reached your cap for the week, do you want to complete this quest," prompt. Instead it'd just automatically convert it from 15 scripture to 30 Lore. Or whatever the numbers are, I didn't pay too close attention since I don't really focus on that as a means of getting Scripture to begin with. EX roulette is the way to go.

I don't think they'd ever do something like this because it'd stagnant other content that rewards Lore. It decreases the value of any roulette, any dungeon, any type of reward that gives only Lore because you can obtain it through expert.

I'd kind of like to see a tomestone "rollover" system where extra tomes you accumulate goes into a pool that can applied towards the cap of future weeks. This way you don't feel pressure to always log in to hit the cap every week and you can play at your own pace without being punished for it.

I hadn't quite considered it that way, good point. That said, I don't think that's necessarily true, because if you have 2,000/2,000 lore, it would then become Esoterics, which can also be used to buy a few things, namely, items needed for those working on their anima/relics. 300 Tomestones gets you an Umbrite, for example. Well, 300 Esoterics also get you an Umbrite. If anything this idea would increase people's inclination to do Lore-rewarding content because they'd be able to invest Esoterics into their anima/relic weapons. If you would get, say, 50 Lore from a dungeon or doing Gundu Beast Tribe Quests, and you were capped on lore, you'd get 100 Esoterics.

Just keep the automatic turn-over below a certain benchmark, e.g. x% conversion. If you could gain all scripts you needed from a level 60 roulette, it should be superior for combined acquisition. If you could gain all scripts you need from a level 60 roulette and a trial, assuming instant queues and no wipes, those should be more time efficient for gaining scripts + lore than the Expert roulette. The conversion should be a silent consolation, never a system of "one method gives all".

Yeah, I never meant for it to be a case of getting more than one kind of tomestone or such. Simply that the higher the Tomestone is, the more valued, depending how far down it goes.

So a Tomestone of Scripture is:
2x as valuable as a Lore (1 Scripture = 2 Lore)
4x as valuable as an Esoteric (1 Scripture = 4 Esoteric)
8x as valuable as a Poetic (1 Scripture = 8 Esoteric)
16x as valuable as a Gil (1 Scripture = 16 Gil)

Admittedly the last one is probably not as valuable as it could be, but its better than nothing.

But as you go down the list, the values remain consistent. So a Tomestone of Lore is twice as Valuable as a Tomestone of Esoterics, and 4x as valuable as a tomestone of Poetics.

While I agree, those numbers are ridiculously too high & would make 50 content near obselete. Just 90 is fine. 90 lore, 90 poetics, or 1000 gil.

people (including myself) have asked for this since i90 was the level cap. i've given up because the devs are not going to cheapen other currency types by allowing a conversion.
