I am always queuing in progress but if a duty has been left zombie I end up there, it even happened to go into an empty one and being the only member up, I left and queued again just to end up there... again.
Wasn't an instance supposed to clear itself when last member leaves?
While not always possible if the duty hasn't been going long enough, you can "abandon" the duty rather than leave and I am fairly certain that it will be closed entirely.
Usually happens in the first minute (or pull!) of the duty ;)
Maybe the 15 min lock time for an abort is not needed, if the party have missing members.
