DPS suggestions?

Hello! i won't waste your time so I'll cut right to the Chase what DPS class would you suggest i try?

*Explanation* my name is Donatsu Ana and i main as a WAR recently i been wanting to get into the Dps scene but im having trouble of finding a dps job that would suit me best you see i don't have a great memory and i usually stress myself out easily (weird i know since i main as a tank) so rotations was always a problem for me as well as remembering when to use buffs/debuffs managing GCDs ect. of course im willing to practice to get a grasp on it what im looking for is a DPS class that is forgiving so to speak in case i mess up during a rotation and i lose a buff or DPS so what would you suggest i try as a DPS class?

Monk is probably the easiest to do decently at, and also has the highest potential personal DPS. Unless exceptionally more skilled or geared than an alternative Dragoon or Ninja, however, it tends to contribute less raid DPS than either other melee.

Try Dragoon or Black Mage. Both great dps and not too hard to play.
Ignore memes about dragoons... memes like "Drgs tank the floor instead".... is complete utter Bs. Anyone half decent at drg and anyone with at least 3 digit IQ can play drg effectively enough.
As for BLM, just make sure you have quelling strike as one of your cross class skill.

It all depends on the style of play you want. Do you want up close, furious and personal? Monk or Ninja, maybe Dragoon. Do you want ease of play? Bard or Mechanist. do you want powerful rotational based abilities? Try the casters. Every DPS can be used and used well, but it's all down to what you want out of it. Personally, I use BRD, simple, straight forward but capable, but I've leveled most of them (minus mechanist) to at least 50. Gameplay does change after that though, so this may be a touch outdated. BRD I have to 60 and I've found most of the new abilities, really help to mitigate some of the stresses I felt prior during 50 and below content. Good luck!

Try Summoner. There is virtually no rotation, just put some DoTs and spam 1 or 2 spells over and over, refresh DoTs etc. There is a stack mechanic (Aethertrail) that is really simple to do too. Plus you get a pet that most likely does more dps with autoattacks than any of the spells you cast.
Bonus: you automatically get a healer too (Scholar).
Ah, also most things are instant casts, so no worries for cast times/movement.

really depend on what you want, I have level all my class to 50 and some to 60
so i can give you little abit of my own experience

my first 60 DPS is a Dragoon, it is over all simple, the rotation is not hard, and DRG current do not share equipment with other job except accessories,
the good about dragoon, rotation is easy to follow, gear look cool, little positioning
the bad about dragoon, the three jump relate skill could be a death trap in some situation, BotD timing require good understanding of dun/boss phase, popping it at wrong time could result in quite some DPS lose, rotation is easy to follow but also easy to mess up especially inexperience in dun
overall i would say Dragoon is a easy to learn but require good knowledge of dung to master, and good looking equipment with no sharing, great for leveling just 1 class

my 2nd 60 DPS is Machinist, it share equipment with Bard, and those two class have some similarity
the good about MCH, it have certain support ability like regenerating TP/MP for party, and it pack silent, stun, slow, bind in 1 class which would be useful in some situation, and you could always remove Gauss barrel when extra mobility is needed with slight DPS lose, and it doesnt really have a rotation
the bad about MCH, after 60 it become as caster, RNG will troll you, could get pretty boring when RNG troll kick it, since it share equipment Bard I force myself to level Bard to 60 too

as mention earlier, I dont want to keep 2 sets of MCH/BRD eq on me, I level it up to 60 as soon as my MCH reach 60
Bard like Machinist, it pack more support skill than other DPS, other then TP/MP regen, it also carry non-combat movement speed buff, a magic resist debuff which is great for magic class, a debuff that lower evasion which was very useful in the old days high end raid

BRD on the other hand is quite different from MCH, BRD have to maintain the DOT which will have a chance refresh the CD of a off GCD dmg skill, so if RNG is on you side, you will be very busy, if RNG troll you....

I personally prefer MCH over BRD, I found BRD is testing my reflex, always need to keep an eye on my hot bar to see if the CD refresh

that's all the 60 DPS i got
follow by my Summoner at 57, and the rest around 55, since I havent hit 60 with them, I m not going to talk about those classes

1 thing I forget to mention, while being melee i found it easier to dodge boss AOE since I am always close to where boss stand, the room i need to run away is usually small, but it come with a cost, being a melee, I always found other players effect in those 24 ppl raid covering up everything, including AOE indicator

while being range I have a better view of what's going on and better situation awareness, some AOE become harder to dodge in large Map, such as those cone type AOE

As I'm sure you're starting to see, if you haven't seen already, the jobs play very differently from one another. Which is a good thing! So, you'l need to decide which play style you enjoy the most.

SMN: I have raided as a 60 smn, and found that it is all about multi-tasking and micro management. If you like keeping multiple plates spinning at the same time, this is the job for you.

DRG: I have also raided as drg, and it is my current main job after playing most of the others. Drg is, by far, the smoothest playing job in the game. This is because there is very little variation in its rotation. Aside from the two new abilities you get a 58 and 60, your rotation is the same every time. This means that muscle memory is paramount in playing drg. It also frees your conscious mind to pay attention to mechanics and the flow of the fight rather than spending your time watching a single tiny number on your buff bar. If you want to learn your job early, then spend your time looking at the fight instead of having to make moment-to-moment decisions or looking at your hotbar, this is the job for you.

MCN: I have also raided as MCN, and found it a lot of fun, but it feels a lot more clunky to me. This is not because it's a bad job, but because it's a proc-based job. It also has a higher burst potential job than most others as it effectively plays in 30-sec blocks. You also get the freedom for backline damage with relative mobility. If you like bursts of damage in smaller blocks of time, this is the job for you. (ps: while brd is not the same as mcn, they are close enough for purposes of this outline)

BLM: This was my main at launch, I raided with it before changing over to drg. I really enjoyed it, and it is the epitome of turret dps. Your mobility is the lowest of all jobs (in my experience). It also has the most forgiving resource management. Running out of MP is part of the mechanic set, therefor the ability to get it back is built into the job. Running out of MP is never a worry, but rather a step in your play style. If you like to stand-n-blast without worry of resources, this is the job for you.

MNK: This is the one dps I've not raided as. But my close friends have. MNK is all about positional placement and forced combos. This is the only job with two different combos ready to use at lvl 15 when you run your first dungeon. If you like high combos and lots of movement as a melee, this is the job for you.

I would suggest Brd as well cause their dps is most likely to 90% about burst button smashing - if you get lost in your rota, dps won't decrease that much compared to other dps cls'. They only have 2 dots which can be refreshed 2gether for the same time of duration -> you can be more focused on your burst dmg ^^

Yeah I was gonna say, its a really really busy job, reminds me of the Red Mage in FFXI, you're always constantly doing something and juggling timers.
