Please allow House owners to use whatever basic or unique to the region exterior house wall they choose regardless of the housing area they are located at.
Like for example someone whose house is located in the lavender beds could use the doma house wall even though they are located in the lavender beds, or someone who is in the goblet use the riveria style from the mist.
This will help ease up the need to move since there will be those who want a doma house for the japanese theme housing / district while there will be those who dont want to move their house because they like the company of their neighbors or have fc members who has personal houses in the same ward nearby. With the implementation of a house moving featuring coming in. There will be no way in knowing if you moved your houses you'll end up in the same ward or close by.

Remove restrictions on character custumization (ie all races have access to all hairstyles and so on)
Remove restrictions on gear that you can glamour onto every class/job
Remove race-specific starter gear
Remove gender locked gear
Just give

What I like about these few "locked out" features is that they make the game experience just that much more enjoyable and immersive - I do love wandering around LB with all their wooden houses, and through Mist's beach houses. I do like the paissa/chocobo/whatever skins, because they're rare enough that they don't go beyond being an amusing change in scenery.
And no, for me the environment for me isn't achieved only through the residential areas themselves - the houses DO add a lot to it, and differenciates them from each other.
