Multiple Questions.
Hello everyone,
Again, I have a bunch o' questions ;)
Glamour: when and how can I start doing this?
Guild leve/hests: what are these/can they be done solo?
PotD weapons: I read about PotD giving you weapons. What is required for me to obtain one?
And will it be specific to the class I am playing with?
Retainers: could someone be so kind to briefly explain to me what their uses are? Apart from selling things?
Bardings:How are these obtained? Purchased and/or crafted?
Pretty sure I will have more questions in the near future since this game has so much overwhelming (but fabulous) content, but I would like to thank every contributor to this thread in advance!

Lvl 50 quest in Mor Dhona.
-
Check t he little market in Mor Dhona one of the stalls sells prisms and gives quest.
-
You have to be lv 50 to unlock glamour. The unlock quest is A Self-improving Man from Wiscard - Mor Dhona (x22, y6).
It is related to armor making crafts actually. Leatherworkers craft leather prisms, Weavers craft cloth prisms, Goldsmiths craft accessory prisms, ect. To cast a glamour, you need the prism for the type of gear you want the armor to look like... so making some heavy plate look like a piece of leather armor would take a leather prism. You don't need the profession to use the glamour prisms. You can just buy them off the market. They're relatively cheap (5-10k gil on my server), but that may be prohibitive when you first hit 50 and you're changing gear so fast. You won't have to worry about leveling a craft up to 50 to use glamours!

As others have said, you have to reach level 50 then go to Mor Dhona for the quest. But also know that you cannot glamour an item that is a higher level than your character. For example: if I'm level 52 but I want to glamour that level 60 sword on my current sword I can because I'm not level 60. HAPPY traveling!

I can hit all of these.
Glamour: Already touched on, theres a level 50 quest in Mor Dona to unlock this system. Theres also a level 15 quest in Western Thanalan to open up dyes, if you dont want to wait that long to get somewhat personalized.
Guild leve/hests: Those are two slightly different things. Guildhests are short group instances that can be cleared for exp and other minor rewards(they also try to teach teamwork and some tactics, but a lot of groups end up ignoring this aspect and just fighting normally). Guildleves are quests you can accept to level up your classes. There are leves for adventuring, and seperate ones for all the crafting and gathering classes. Hests you can do as often as you please, but you have a limit of leve "allowances". You cant do any leves when you run out of allowances until you get more(which is automatically - the game gives you some every 6 hours or so and they build up until you hit the max of 100). And yes, since i didnt spell it out, leves are all soloable. Hests, as mentioned, are group instances.
PotD: PotD is a separate system in a lot of ways. Inside you dont use any of your normal gear, and the gear from inside you cant really take outside. There are chests you open up inside that strengthen your PotD specific gear, giving it an increasing + rating. Once you get a high enough rating(+30/+30) and clear a specific floor in PotD then a person outside offers to exchange your PotD weapon for an outside(lvl 60) weapon. At the time this is done, you can choose what type of weapon you receive, so it is possible to get one for a different class then the one you played in PotD. This can be done a second time(+60/+60) to upgrade the weapon further. Both times this is done, you lose the gear rating you had inside PotD, and have to re-build it up.
Retainers: They let you sell things(you know this). They also have fairly large inventories, and can store extra things for you. And lastly, once you do a quest you unlock what are known as Retainer Ventures. These are basically quests you send your retainers on. They get exp and can level up(though they cant pass you), and they bring you back things. There are 2 main types of Venture - exploration and hunting. Hunting ventures(this is for adventure class retainers, gathering class retainers gather rather then strictly hunt but it works the same way) let you pick the item that theyll bring back from a level appropriate list. Exploration ventures have a hidden list(which also expands as they level and you give them better gear), and the item you get back is random. This is all paid for via a special currency - the venture. You get these from some quests, and can also buy them from your GC or with allied seals.
Bardings: Some are purchased in game(i know the gold saucer has one or two they sell for MGP, your GC has a couple they sell for seals, etc), some are crafted(and can be bought from the marketplace if you dont care to level your own crafting/get the materials), some are drops(theres at least one i know is from a dungeon), they can come from quest or achievement rewards, and SE sells some of them for cash on the mogstation as optional items. They dont actually affect your birds stats, but they can help it look pretty/unique. You can also change your birds feather color to accomplish this.
And since i mentioned it offhand and the ingame reference is vague and easily missed...
Achievement rewards: There are certain accomplishments in game that have rewards associated with them. With quests and clears(dungeon/trial/etc), this is all very obvious. But achievements can have rewards too, and the method for getting the rewards is less obvious. If you scroll through the massive list of achievements, youll find some that say theyll give you items(and titles, though the titles are just automatically added to your list). To get these items in game, go to Gridania and talk to Jonathas near the waterfall. Hes an old man, and likes to hear stories about your adventures - some of these are so good he gives you an item in return. You can tell him multiple stories in one visit, and get whatever rewards youve earned but not yet gathered. If you talk to him when you dont have any rewards pending, you get a help text that explains basically what i just said.
