So I'm working on my black mage relic, and got to the point of needing to fight Ifrit, Garuda and Titan. Since wait times seemed long, I queued into all three since I'm a bit passed them. Titan was the first to pop. After Titan's defeat, I went the journal to see if anything had been checked off...
I'm assuming I have to do them in order as mentioned correct? No big deal if that's the case. Just trying to clarify. I don't mind doing Titan again if I have to :D

I'm not sure. Were you on the job you needed the relic for and queued for Hard mode (level 50) and not the story one (or extreme)? Also, just in case you don't know, there's a newer relic quest in the game for level 60, and the level 50 relics don't give you any benefit (apart from glamour) at this point.
You need to do Ifrit first, then Garuda, and finally Titan third.

Taika, I was under the impression that the 50 relics were needed as a base to create the 60 relics? Since the relic isn't as good as the random weapon I purchased, I was doing these quests as a stepping stone to get those 60s.
Actually, it's either you do all the quest chain for the lvl50 relic (which can be quite long), allowing to skip the first step of the lvl60 relic, which is fate farming.
If you are leveling up a job from 50 to 60, this is the less bothersome solution. But if you are looking to do some lore, glamour, collecting (GOTTA HAVE 'EM ALL !!), you can do either.
If your sole goal is the level 60 anima relic, do *not* bother with the level 50 one. It will likely take you weeks of hard work to complete, and be obsolete by the level 57 dungeon weaponry. And it's barely better than the i130 weapon you get with tomestones of poetics, which you can get in an evening.
Having the ARR relic allows you to skip the first phase of the Heavensward anima, but it's way too much work to put into compared to simply doing that phase, as pointed out above. It would not be as big an issue if you had been working on your relic throughout the 2.0-2.5 patches as it came out, but having to do all at once when there is better/easier content nowadays is not worth the effort.

The only reason to do the zodiac relic is glamour (which is fine but a lot of work). You'll be pleased to know that the first step is the only one that requires instanced content like that, other steps need dungeons, but those should pop quicker due to levelling roulette. A piece of advice I would give is to use the PF if you need to, that should be quicker, especially with cross server support now
