I have my fishing retainer at 60, though not geared up well yet. I've been sending her out on Waterside Exploration XV and XIV ventures in hopes of getting Young Water Lilies, but she only ever brings back fish.
She's obviously well over the gear requirement for those ventures--she has 406 gathering in my leftover pre-60 gear. Are the Young Water Lilies just that rare or does she still need better gear for those ARR level ventures? :confused:

I've only ever seen one Young Water Lily & it was from one of the 18hr ventures. I did hundreds to get it.
Well, I knew it would take forever, but since I don't really have anything else to do with this retainer, I figured I'd give it a shot. The question is about gear on the retainer, not how long it would take to get what I want!
The response is - anything that allows you to do those ventures! You don't need anything more than that to get them. I've had no more success in HQ Serpentskin & HQ lvl60 rod than I had at the end of 2.5 with the gear available then.
It's purely RNG based & a real pain in the proverbial.
