Cait Sith and familiars
So cait sith is a familiar, a cursed cat-thing granted sentience by its master. Very much like the poroggos in Dravanian hinterlands does cait sith share several similarities including but not limited to: Magical abilities, Animal shape, humanoid-ish pose etc.
However, the poroggos seem to have gone somewhat feral. At least those without masters. It is about 15 years since the settlement was evacuated.
Cait Sith has kept its sentience for 1500 years without a master. Shouldnt the cat have returned to its animal form without an active master to keep it sentient?

The Mhachi might simply have been better at creating familiars than the Sharlayans were. Or, alternatively, Cait Sith may have been a familiar with a lot more care put into his enchantments, whereas the Poroggo were more quick 'n dirty constructs with sloppy enchantments that deteriorated over time.
All just speculation; I don't think there's anything actually in-game that discusses why the Poroggos went feral and Cait did not. Unless the lore book has something on the topic?

It's a cat, he just pretends he cares about his master and his duties but in the end, he is probably worst than the Porogos :p

it could be a final command seal added by Cait Sith's master before death/leaving or Cait Sith was alive far longer than normal familiars to the point it became independent of its "binding" to its Master, but stayed loyal due to their mutual bond & shaired views/friendship?

Its very likely the spells/rituals used in the creation of familiars vary depending on their purpose of their creation. Sharleyan familiars seem to be more used for menial tasks, things the mages aren't keen on doing themselves (making tea...), and the Mhach would likely have them as well. Cait was probably created more as companionship, and maybe even for more than just that, which would be why he's so much more than just a talking animal/object.

Well, another possible difference is, the Poroggo didn't have any lasting mission given to them by the Sharlayans. Cait Sith had a mission from the Archmagus who made it.
This does bring up yet another intriguing parallel between Sharlayan and Mhach though.

I cant remember where, but it says somewhere that the Poroggo in the hinterlands were abandoned by their masters and had nothing left to do so they live their life. Few remain true to their tasks, like the ones inside library guarding the books. And I believe there is a fate where it states that a Poroggo is angry that his masters left and wants revenge or something.
