Garo event for casters
I really feel like casters got the short end of the stick in this event, especially male casters. Four of the classes get awesome armor. Monk is sort of less awesome but still really nice with all the detail, and they get glowing fists. Bard is way less awesome but still has some nice detail. Then we get to casters. A red and black outfit.............. How many of those do I have now? Enough I don't want to go count. But, what about details? Nope. The small scarf type accents are barely visible. Then lets go to weapons, most are ok but really sad with smn, especially since it's not really visible, sch has cool glow on theirs. Blm gets a gem at least. Whm is big and detailed. Smn just has a book with a brush. The female set at least looks new. I can forgive a lot of it, but next time they look at a caster robe, please let them realize exactly how many of them we have that are so similar already.

Healers and Casters get special treatment there. Good looking gears and even get different versions for both genders.
Look at them ugly ninja armors.

Well, of the four of them I like the dark knight/warrior and dragoon armor the most. But, even so, ninja still made out way better than casters. The armor for ninjas is new looking because ninjas almost never have anything that has full plate armor on it. Not only is it new looking but it is good for glamour too since you can mix and match a lot of that like wearing standard ninja gear with the boots and gloves. Or just the mask with something else.

It's based on a pre-existing series where priests (casters) are completely worthless for killing more than standard-level monsters, and you expect all casters to get special armor like the melee knights? The series even makes a point to show that they don't teach knights magic and priests aren't expected to be any good in a real fight.

And here I am wishing I could glamour the caster and bard outfits onto my NIN/DRK gear..

Not sure what the male caster set looks like, but I will say this. The weapons are ugly (a paint brush, really?). The female caster set is awful - it looks like a rejected frumpy design that didn't make it to World of Darkness.

Female ranged and caster sets are super detailed and extremely pretty, have some of the most unique headpieces and are all dyeable if red/black does not fit your taste :o
The paint brush for BLM is adorable and I am SO glad I barely play melee classes, because every single one of those armors is the most fugly thing I've seen since my male friends stopped bringing their action figurines to kindergarden.
Since I can't try on the male sets myself I have yet to see them, but if one of your main complaints is the color...well, they are dyeable, so what's the problem?

dying on caster doesn't change much on the males, just the shirt, 75% of it is still red and black, and like you said female is super detailed. male isn't.
