Possible Pharos Sirius glitch?

I've only ran this instance about four times. Never really had any issues other than with the first boss and getting players who like to zerg the boss to focus down the adds. But Zu in particular has always been pretty straight forward.

The fight mechanic as I understand is to basically leave the eggs alone, kill the hatchlings, and burn down Zu. Last night though after getting him down to around 60-70% HP, I suddenly see the message "The Zu's eyes grow murderous!" He gained all 16 stacks almost instantly with most of the eggs up with the exception of those that hatched, and proceeded to wipe the group. We were all at a loss as to what happened. We were successful the second go, and the sudden 16 stacks did not happen.

Can anyone enlighten me? Did we do something wrong that I'm not understanding. This won't be the last time I do this dungeon, and I just want to make sure I have a correct understanding of this fight.

Somebody touched two or more eggs, perhaps a stray Flare or AoE that someone threw out of habit.

Intended mechanics:

She gains 8 stacks for every egg that breaks from being attacked. It takes one attack to kill an egg. The stacks drop off gradually. She rages at 15 or 16. You can break one egg that's getting ready to hatch (preferably a spotted one, to prevent a Cockerel), wait for the rage to drop a few stacks, then break another egg.

Okay. That makes sense. I thought she just got 1 stack per egg, and I'm guessing that like you said, someone accidently killed off two or more eggs before any stacks could drop off. If the eggs go down that easy, I can definitely see how the fight can turn bad real quick. Thank you so much! Very helpful.
