Maybe I'm missing it but is there a way to target the nearest actionable item (e.g., chest, level, doorway, etc.)?
In MSQ speedruns in DF, there are many occasions where being able to immediately target a lever/lift mean life and death :P

Keyboard or controller?
On PS4 controller it's the "X" button if you have nothing else targeted (so usually "O" followed by "X", for cancel target then target nearest). For XBox controller, I'd assume that's "A" (or "B" followed by "A").
(I'm sure keyboard must have an equivalent. I just don't know what it is.)
And while that can target mobs, players, and NPCs, it has a built in precedence order that favors objects (so in town, for instance, it's good for targeting a summoning bell when there's a crowd of players around it).
thanks for the reply! I'm on a keyboard. I'll have to take a look I guess when I get back to see if there's a similar target precedence somewhere.
/keybind
Targeting
Target Nearest NPC or Object
iirc it defaults to the 0 (zero) key on the num-pad, can't remember if you need num-lock on or off for it, you can also use the num-pad for switching targets (4 and 6 to switch left/right, 8 and 2 to switch party members) exactly the same as a controller D-pad. (the num=pad 0 key is the same as the controller "confirm" button)
thanks all. found the keybind option. works nicely!
