Example: Party of 8 has just defeated Ifrit, 4 heads back to the Ifrit node, and 4 goes to farm tapers in Zahar'ak.
The 4 members in Zahar'ak beats some beastmen and some of those taper loot goes to the other 4 players located half way across the map. That does not make much sense to me. It looks like a bug.

It's not a bug. As long as you're in the same "zone" as the rest, you're eligible for loot. The only way to not be eligible is if you exit the boundaries of the Broken Water area.
